Jamie Comer's statement on Devon Archer's testimony

Image
Devon Archer's testimony today is both substantive and explosive, if the statement issued by Chairman Jamie Comer is accurate. Here are key takeaways from Devon Archer’s transcribed interview: Devon Archer testified that the value of adding Hunter Biden to Burisma’s board was "the brand" and confirmed that then-Vice President Joe Biden was "the brand." Archer admitted that "Burisma would have gone out of business if 'the brand' had not been attached to it." He believed that Hunter Biden being on the board and the Biden brand contributed to Burisma’s longevity. People would have been intimidated to mess with Burisma legally because of the Biden brand. In December 2015, Mykola Zlochevsky, the owner of Burisma, and Vadym Pozharski, an executive of Burisma, placed constant pressure on Hunter Biden to get help from D.C. regarding the Ukrainian prosecutor, Viktor Shokin. Shokin was investigating Burisma for corruption. Hunter Biden, along with Zloch

Open letter to Kevin McCarthy, Impeachment Inquiry Edition

Image
To: Kevin McCarthy From: Gary Gross, Impeachment Inquiry Activist Subject: Impeachment Inquiry, not impeachment Speaker McCarthy, It's time to stop the silliness about full-blown impeachment, at least at this point. Let me lay out my thinking for why an impeachment inquiry is best in this situation. First, as you know, it enhances your subpoena power. That, in turn, increases the House's investigative authority. Since there won't be a conviction after impeachment, the goal should be to damage Joe Biden to the point that he's unelectable in 2024. That was the Democrats' goal with their first impeachment of then-President Trump. The difference between the GOP's impeachment inquiry and the Democrat/Pelosi/Schiff impeachment is the seriousness of the GOP's impeachment inquiry. Use that enhanced subpoena power to get documents from Merrick Garland and David Weiss that pertain to their protection of Hunter Biden. Also, let's dig into whether they knew about

Devon Archer's testimony

Image
Joe Biden's credibility is at stake when Devon Archer sits down for a deposition Monday morning. That's because Archer is potentially the Bidens' Kryptonite. Because he's Hunter Biden's former business partner, he knows 'where the bodies are buried.' Thanks to Sarah Bedford's investigative reporting, we know "Archer is expected to testify about the extent of President Joe Biden’s involvement in his son’s foreign business dealings, potentially roping the president more deeply into a scandal he has thus far studiously avoided." Thus far, Biden's accomplices in the corporate media and in the Democrat Party have said that the GOP hasn't turned up any evidence of Joe Biden's complicity in Hunter's scandal. Of course, they're lying. The GOP has unearthed plenty of evidence of Joe's ties to Hunter's shady business dealings. Democrats, like Joe, realize that any verifiable evidence of Joe and Hunter's ties to each other

James Comer explains the Biden family SARs reports to Ted Cruz

Image
If more people knew more about what triggers a SARs report, they'd be upset with the Biden family, aka the Biden Crime Syndicate. According to this article , Chairman Jamie Comer was a director of a bank for a decade. Chairman Comer told Sen. Cruz and podcast host Ben Ferguson that the bank he was director at issued 2 SARs during his time as director. Further, Chairman Comer explained that a client that got 2 SARs on their record, "it would be difficult for you to open an account somewhere." Chairman Comer then explained that 6 different banks filed over 170 SARs in connection with the Biden LLCs! Additionally, Comer said that one account that usually had $10,000-$50,000 in the account got a $3,000,000 transfer from a company in China out of the blue. That's just the start of it. Next, the money is required to stay in that account for 24 hours so it can clear. After that transfer came in, the money stayed in that account for 24 hours, 2 minutes. After that, the money

Oliver Darcy's mendacity, poor preparation displayed

Image
Anyone thinking that Oliver Darcy is a journalist with integrity is kidding themselves. You don't have to take hours studying this Reliable Sources Newsletter to find multiple serious mistakes in it. In the opening paragraph, Darcy wrote "Jim Jordan is shaking down Mark Zuckerberg. The hyper-partisan Ohio Republican, still on an unsuccessful years-long journey to dishonestly portray Silicon Valley as unfairly censoring American conservatives, is now wielding the power of the federal government in his quest to besmirch Meta." First, it's dishonest to say that the Twitter Files didn't uncover multiple examples of Jack Dorsey's Twitter telling Twitter to shadow-ban certain tweets. Further, Matt Taibbi and Michael Shellenberger found examples of Twitter suspending accounts like President Trump, Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, the New York Post and the Babylon Bee at the government's request. Specifically, this was done on orders of the FBI. When the federa

Joe Biden finally admits that he's a deadbeat grandpa

Image
Joe Biden must've gotten some bad polling on his unwillingness to admit he had a 7th grandchild. Why else would Mr. and Mrs. Biden issue this statement to People Magazine late this Friday afternoon? The Bidens' statement said "Our son Hunter and Navy’s mother, Lunden, are working together to foster a relationship that is in the best interests of their daughter, preserving her privacy as much as possible going forward. This is not a political issue, it’s a family matter. Jill and I only want what is best for all of our grandchildren, including Navy." The People magazine did their best in trying to spin the situation. They quoted a "source familiar with the situation" who said "You have to remember there were some fairly contentious legal proceedings between Navy’s parents happening until just a few weeks ago. As grandparents, the Bidens are following Hunter’s lead" adding "They are, and have been, giving Hunter and Lunden the space and time to

Joseph Ziegler's Hunter Biden op-ed

Image
Joseph Ziegler, the IRS Special Agent who testified before the House Oversight Committee last week, has written a WSJ op-ed about the collapse of Hunter Biden's sweetheart plea deal. In his op-ed , Ziegler said that we need a special counsel to properly investigate Hunter Biden. I disagree with that. For now. There are 2 situations that I'd agree with a special counsel investigation. The first situation would be after the House Oversight Committee finished their investigation. Once they've wrapped up their investigation and they've made a criminal referral to the DOJ, then I'd want a special counsel. I don't want a special counsel investigation getting in the way of the Oversight Committee's investigation. Comer's Committee has uncovered more in 8 months than David Weiss's 'investigation' uncovered in 5 years. The other situation where I'd enthusiastically agree to a special counsel investigation is if a) former U.S. Attorney John Ratclif

Shifting the goalposts on Hunter Biden

Image
It's time to significantly shift the goalposts on the Hunter Biden plea deal. Rearranging the position of the terms isn't enough. First, U.S. Attorney for Delaware David Weiss should be required to eliminate special treatment of Hunter's gun charges. That's a felony. He should be required to serve time in a prison for that. Period. The list of special favors directed at Hunter Biden is the subject of Kim Strassel's latest Potomac Watch column . The column opens by saying "U.S. Attorney David Weiss is now offering to testify publicly in front of the House, and Republicans may need to book him for a week. It could take that long for the Delaware prosecutor to unwind his office’s growing list of Hunter Biden special favors, not to mention its half-truths and outright dissembling. The House Judiciary Committee needs to ask why it took 5 years to come up with Hunter's sweetheart deal. If that's the first question, the next question must be why IRS whistleblo

Paula Scanlon, Chloe Cole vs. gender-affirming care, Democrats

Image
Chloe Cole's heartbreaking story of so-called gender re-affirming care brought the house down. During her opening statement, she talked about gender re-affirming care as a "pseudoscience. According to this article , "Cole was prompted by Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), who asked her to comment on the inherent worth of everyone going through sexual confusion as a child. Roy closed by asking if Cole believed the American healthcare system had failed her. 'On every single level: By doctors and systemically,' Cole replied." Paula Scanlan offered a different story. In her opening statement , Scanlan brought home the reality of dealing with interacting with males participating in women's sports. She said that she was Lia Thomas's teammate at the University of Pennsylvania. Ms. Scanlan talked about life in the locker room. She talked about how University administrators treated her and her other teammates. In her opening statement, Ms. Scanlan said "My teammates a

Honoring Hunter's Heroes Brigade

Image
It's time to honor the men and woman who comprise the Hunter's Heroes Brigade. Thanks to these men and woman, Hunter's sweetheart plea deal collapsed yesterday . Since each person played a unique role in this saga, it's only fair to introduce them one-by-one. As a gentleman, ladies go first. Judge Maryellen Noreika Judge Noreika deserves our applause because she questioned the DOJ-Hunter defense team's collusive plea agreement . Things started unraveling when she said that "she was confused by the deal's diversion agreement, which called for Biden to remain drug-free without committing additional crimes in order to see the gun charge dismissed." Hunter's defense team "and prosecutors wanted to keep that agreement separate from the tax matters, Noreika wanted to know if it was all part of a 'package deal.' Biden acknowledged that without the provisions of the diversion deal he would not be pleading guilty." It didn't take long

Partisan impeachment vs. evidence-based impeachment

Image
Get ready for the Democrats' onslaught of disinformation about Joe Biden's possible impeachment. This time, if an impeachment happens, it' because the House Oversight Committee, House Judiciary Committee and House Ways and Means Committee have conducted a thoroughly researched investigation into a) Joe Biden's family's criminal activity, b) collected tons of evidence like bank statements to the labyrinth of LLC shell companies, SARs (Suspicious Activity Reports) and eyewitness testimony from IRS whistleblowers like Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler and gotten invaluable information from Sen. Chuck Grassley's tireless investigations. When Democrats impeached President Trump, the Democrats relied mostly on hearsay testimony that was corroborated by other hearsay witnesses. Lt. Col. Vindman testified that he was upset that President Trump didn't implement Vindman's policies. The chutzpah of the Leader of the Free World not listening to low-level staffer on fo

Hunter Biden's plea deal collapses, chaos ensues

Image
While I watched Fox News's coverage, I was first amazed that the hearing didn't happen without a hitch. After an hour of coverage, it became obvious that history was getting made. Around noon CT. the Chiron flashed that Hunter had plead not guilty and that the plea deal had collapsed. According to CBS's reporting , "A plea agreement between federal prosecutors and Hunter Biden fell apart Wednesday after the judge refused to sign off on a deal that would have seen the president's son enter guilty pleas to two misdemeanor tax charges and enter a diversion program in lieu of pleading guilty to a felony gun possession count. After the deal collapsed, Hunter Biden entered a not guilty plea." The first major indication that things weren't going well was Fox reporting that Judge Maryellen Noreika told Hunter's defense team that she thought that the diversion program provision on the gun charge was unconstitutional. Another major indication that the deal was i

Chuck Grassley's latest FD-1023 report

Image
It's understatement to say that Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley is upset with the DOJ and FBI for their handling of the FD-1023 investigation. Sen. Grassley isn't happy that the FBI and DOJ didn't follow normal investigative procedures to verify the form's contents' authenticity. In a Tuesday speech from the Senate floor, Sen. Grassley said "We’re in July 2023 and we’re talking about a June 2020 document. The FBI can easily answer those questions. The fact that they haven’t indicates to me that the Justice Department and FBI haven’t followed normal investigative protocol." Grassley continued, saying "Remember this: 'To date, the Justice Department and FBI have not disputed any of their allegations,' he continued, referring to whistleblower allegations concerning the Biden family. 'Further, remember this: That includes information relating to this 1023 that I’ve made public, and some of this information goes back to October of last year. And in t

Keystone Cop impeachment vs. legitimate impeachment

Image
In 2019-2020, Democrats impeached Donald Trump based almost exclusively on hearsay testimony. Each night, Democrats told us that tomorrow's testimony would include "bombshell testimony." When the next morning rolled around, that promised bombshell testimony got taken apart by Jim Jordan, John Ratcliffe, Mike Turner, Mike Johnson or Elise Stefanik dissected that day's promised bombshell testimony. My favorite cross-examination came from Mike Turner when he cross-examined U.S. Ambassador to the E.U. Gordon Sondland. More on that in a little bit. The other cross-examination that I got a chuckle from was Jim Jordan cross-examining Ambassador William Taylor. Then-Rep. Jordan said that he'd seen church prayer chains that were easier to decipher. I'd agree with that. Let's call that impeachment unserious. Democrats simply hated Trump. The charges weren't serious and the Democrats' adherence to a fair, consistent process was nonexistent. Adam Schiff was a

Joe Biden's, Democrats' war on appliances, individual choice

Image
Months ago, it was announced that the Biden administration wanted to eliminate gas stoves. That was followed quickly by a walking-back of that policy. That was followed by this report from Kim Strassel, which reports "Don’t believe for a second Consumer Product Safety Commission member Richard Trumka Jr.’s slippery claim that they aren’t coming for your stove. Or the media narrative that Republicans are 'hyping' a new 'culture war' by 'pretending' the Biden administration intends to ban gas stoves." Strassel continued, saying "The reason gas stoves are in the news is simple: There is a coordinated, calculated—and well-funded—strategy to kill them off. It’s the joint enterprise of extremely powerful climate groups, working with Biden administration officials who have publicly stated their aim to eliminate all 'combustion appliances' in homes. Only after the GOP called them out did anyone pretend otherwise." The string of policy change

James Comer doesn't want special counsel appointed for Hunter

Image
Jamie Comer didn't mince words in talking about his investigation into the Biden Crime Syndicate. He doesn't want Merrick Garland to appoint a special counsel to investigate Hunter and Joe Biden. Chairman Comer rightly thinks that his House Oversight Committee is doing a great job already. Additionally, Chairman Comer said "I have no confidence in special counsels. I have no confidence in Merrick Garland to appoint an independent, credible, unbiased special counsel. I think we're making a lot of progress in our investigation. So, we're gonna continue to plow forward." Thus far, the Biden administration has used the DOJ, FBI, IRS and 2 Biden-appointed U.S. attorneys to thwart this investigation. The minute that a special counsel is appointed is the minute all the witnesses go silent. What's the usefulness in that? Further, Chairman Comer hopes to have Devon Archer testify in front of the House Oversight Committee later this week: "We are looking forw

Joe Biden for authoritarian

Image
Apparently, some terribly misguided law professors think that Joe Biden has the authority to ignore the Supreme Court rulings if he doesn't like them. Apparently, these misguided professsors think that Joe Biden is a dictator, not a president. Jonathan Turley didn't let them off easy , writing "I shall resist any illegal federal court order.'" Prof. Turley then used another quote that said "When 'the Court’s interpretation of the Constitution is egregiously wrong,' the president should refuse to follow it." Then Prof. Turley gave these professors a history lesson, writing "Those two statements were made roughly 60 years apart. The first is from segregationist Alabama Gov. George Wallace (D). The second was made by two liberal professors this month. In one of the most chilling developments in our history, the left has come to embrace the authoritarian language and logic of segregationists in calling for defiance and radical measures against t

Debunking Joe Biden's speech in Philadelphia

Image
Last week, Joe Biden delivered a speech to a gathering of corrupt politicians in Philadelphia. Biden would have delivered the speech to honest politicians but this is Philadelphia, where there aren't any honest politicians. But I digress. The subject of the speech was Bidenomics and the 'investments' the Democrat socialists are making into wild fantasies like eliminating fossil fuels . Early in the speech, Biden said "I’m here today to talk about what we’re doing to invest in America, invest in Pennsylvania, invest in our clean energy future — and to talk about the progress we’ve made building an economy from the middle out and the bottom up." The reality is that Bidenomics is based on top-down deliveries from government to their winners, which the government picks, not the people. How can a top-down, central-planning model not pick winners and losers? That's the flaw with Bernie Sanders' system. He doesn't allow people to make their own decisions. San

When will Dan Wolgamott be charged? What will the charges be?

Image
It's been 2 weeks since DFL Speaker Pro Tempore Dan Wolgamott was pulled over by a State Trooper for swerving while driving his vehicle. Since getting pulled over, video has surfaced showing Wolgamott in a Mora store parking lot drinking right before he was pulled over by the State Trooper. I first wrote about Rep. Wolgamott getting pulled over in this article . I quoted the MPR article as saying "Wolgamott’s vehicle was weaving, lacked a front license plate and had expired registration." I also quoted the MPR article as saying "Wolgamott failed field sobriety tests and registered .106 percent in a preliminary breath test, which is above the legal limit of 0.08 percent." This week, I received Rep. Wolgamott's email update. It included an update on his traffic incident. It said "On Friday, July 7, while attending a weekend wedding celebration outside of Mora, Minnesota, I was stopped by law enforcement in Kanabec County under suspicion for driving whil

Inflation: Joe Biden's main albatross

Image
When Joe Biden visited Philadelphia this week, it was his 27th trip to Philadelphia since his inauguration. During his speech, Mr. Biden said "It’s not an accident, it’s my economic plan in action. Together, we’re transforming the country." Dictionary.com's definition of transform is "to change in form, appearance, or structure; to change in condition, nature, or character." Joe Biden doesn't have a mandate to change the U.S. in form, nature or character. Further, millions of people love the Founding Fathers, the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. Most importantly, Joe Biden isn't listening to people. He didn't listen to James Watson, who is "an independent voter who manages a convenience store at a Philadelphia gas station." Watson said "Inflation’s terrible. Everything’s more expensive than it was." Why would people support a president who doesn't listen to them and who has screwed up the economy? Biden took

Ron DeSantis goes on the offensive re: Jan. 6

Image
Gov. Ron DeSantis is going on the offensive against the MSM over the mischaracterized insurrection of Jan. 6. He told Russell Brand that the so-called insurrection was nothing of the sort. Gov. DeSantis said "I think it is ridiculous how much money they pumped in for the Capitol Police. This was not an insurrection. These were people that were there to attend a rally and protest. It devolved into a riot, but the idea that this was a plan to somehow overthrow the government of the United States is not true and it is something the media has spun up to try to get mileage out of it and use it for partisan and political aims. I know there were a lot of people there who were just there, and they didn't have any designs on doing anything." Gov. DeSantis continued, saying "We just have to be honest about it. If somebody is honestly doing an insurrection against the U.S. government, then prove that is the case and I'll be happy to accept it. But all you're showing me

Christopher Wray's inadvertent confession

Image
It isn't every day that the FBI Director admits that his Bureau's biggest crisis is himself and the FBI's upper management. Still, according to Kim Strassel's Potomac Watch column , that's what Christopher Wray did when he testified at the House Judiciary Committee hearing. Director Wray started his opening statement "before the House Judiciary Committee Wednesday by praising the bureau’s 38,000 rank-and-file personnel who protect the country 'each and every day.'" That's when Ms. Strassel dropped the hammer, saying "In doing so, he inadvertently highlighted the FBI’s real problem: the politicized few at the top." BINGO! Ms. Strassel then expressed her thoughts about the FBI rank-and-file, writing "In his testimony, Mr. Wray rightly noted that FBI agents battle child predators, fentanyl cartels, Chinese espionage, cyberattackers, gangs, foreign terrorists and human traffickers. He griped that this work is overshadowed by 'the

Jason Aldean, Jonathan Turley & the lesson of Adam Smith's Invisible Hand

Image
I thought about titling this post 'Try that in a small town' but thought better of it. I'm basing this article off Jason Aldean's hit single of the same name. I'm also basing it on Jonathan Turley's article on the lessons CMT is getting taught by Adam Smith's Invisible Hand principle. Near the top of Prof. Turley's article, he notes that "Putting aside CMT’s effort to become the Bud Light of music networks, the decision to yield to the intense cancel campaign is an abandonment of principles of artistic freedom and free speech." I've spent lots of time in small-town Minnesota so this hits home a little more intensely than other songs or ballads hit home. Part of the reason is because, in small-town Minnesota that I'm familiar with, everybody looks out for everybody. That's really the basis for Mr. Aldean's hit single. That doesn't mean small-town folk get along perfectly with each other. It simply means they're there fo

Chuck Grassley vs. the FBI

Image
After Chuck Grassley released an FD-1023 document, the FBI expressed its outrage that Sen. Grassley, (R-IA), made public a document that isn't classified. CNN is reporting that "Republicans, including Grassley and House Oversight Chairman James Comer, have been pushing for the FBI to publicly release the document, which the bureau has declined to do. Comer had even threatened to hold FBI Director Christopher Wray in contempt until the two sides reached a last-minute agreement." Spare me the faux outrage. This is the FBI that wouldn't confirm that the document even existed. Then the FBI admitted that it existed but that only the House Oversight Committee chair and ranking member could see it in a SCIF. Finally, the FBI 'allowed' the document, which hasn't been classified, to be viewed by the entire committee. Miranda Devine's article highlights the various stages of outrage directed at the FBI, DOJ, David Weiss and Merrick Garland. Ms. Devine wrote &q

Democrats' attempt to silence RFK Jr. fails

Image
I didn't think I'd see the day when Democrats would attempt to silence a member of the First Family of the Democratic Party, the family that gave us Camelot and supply-side economics. I'm referring to the Kennedy family. The Democrats made a motion to move the House Permanent Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of Government into executive session with the hope of not letting RFK Jr. testify before the Committee in open session. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz made the motion. Rep. Thomas Massie made the motion to table Ms. Wasserman-Schultz's motion. In the end, the Massie motion prevailed on a straight party line vote of 10-8, meaning that Rep. Wasserman-Schultz's motion was tabled. That wasn't the only time that Democrats attempted to silence RFK Jr. At another point, Ranking Member Stacey Plaskett got into an argument with Subcommittee Chairman Jim Jordan. Jordan "mentioned he might get additional time given some witnesses getting additional time in

Joseph Ziegler and identifying the Deep State

Image
Special Agent Joseph Ziegler, aka Whistleblower X, sat down for an interview with Catherine Herridge, the CBS senior investigative correspondent. During their interview, Ziegler told Herridge that he "felt handcuffed" during the investigation. Reporting for CBS, Herridge was asked about the partisanship between House Oversight Committee Ranking Member Jamie Raskin and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan about the IRS's investigation into Hunter Biden. Herridge replied that she relies on the transcripts of the depositions given by the whistleblowers because Herridge noted that the people getting deposed are under oath, therefore meaning any intentional misstatements are potentially subject to perjury. As for yesterday's hearing, Raskin insisted that "the only political interference at play here is coming from Donald Trump and my Republican colleagues." That's a whopper that's earned a bottomless Pinocchio. If Raskin wanted to make headline

Getting serious: Ron DeSantis' Mission First plan for the military

Image
Bit-by-bit, Gov. Ron DeSantis is laying out a serious policy agenda. Bit-by-bit, he's sitting down for tough-but-fair interviews, too. This week, Gov. DeSantis sat down with CNN's Jake Tapper for a tough-but-fair interview. During that interview, Gov. DeSantis laid out his 'Mission First' military plan. While visiting South Carolina, Gov. DeSantis said "We need a military that is focused on being lethal, being ready and being capable." The DeSantis Plan "features four pillars: 'Ripping Political Agendas Out of Our Military;' 'Restoring Military Standards;' 'Breaking the Swamp and Promoting Accountability;' and 'Turning the Tide Against Biden’s Military Recruitment Crisis.'" Gov. DeSantis' Mission First Plan "takes aim at diversity, equity and inclusion administrators, as well as policies impacting transgender servicemembers." Gov. DeSantis said "it’s a military that has been ordered by civilian off
