Kathy Hochul's cashless bail crisis is Joe Biden's problem

Image
Anyone that thinks that cashless bail is mostly Kathy Hochul's problem is kidding themselves. It's a crisis for Joe Biden, too. The similarities between Hochul and Biden is eerie. On Thursday, Biden was in New York for a glitzy fundraiser. His handlers made the right decision in not having him attend Officer Diller's wake in Massapequa Park. Meanwhile, Donald Trump was invited to Officer Diller's wake by Diller's family. Had Biden attended, it's virtually certain that the officers attending the wake would've turned their backs on Biden the same way they turned their backs on Bill DeBlasio 9+ years ago. Democrat spinmeisters can say whatever they want but law enforcement knows who'll throw cops under the bus and who's got their back. Mike Lawler speaks "He should not have been bail eligible, period," Republican Congressman Mike Lawler said. Lawler said Hochul should not have attended the wake, even though she's signed multiple revisions

Joe Biden's slow-motion trainwreck

Image
Bit-by-bit, Joe Biden's legacy is crumbling into little pieces. Joe Biden's tombstone is likely to say 'Joe just didn't get anything right. May he rest in peace.' Wherever Joe's been, a trail of disasters follows. It's just inevitable. Afghanistan is a portrait of incompetence and stubbornness. U.S.-Israeli relations are the worst they've been since Israel was first created. Biden is siding with Israel one day, the Palestinians the next. He's doing that for purely partisan purposes. Marco Rubio put it perfectly when he said that Biden's version of a a 2-state solution is him winning Michigan and Minnesota. The U.S.-Mexico border was intentionally demolished to create a massive new set of voters. In a recent interview, National Border Patrol Council president Brandon Judd said "It’s just a bait and switch. They’re just paroling people in through airports rather than having them come across the border. They’re just gonna keep the numbers at

Highlighting the DFL's failing government schools

Image
Thanks to this Center for the American Experiment special report , it isn't possible for the DFL to spin away the failure of Minnesota's government, aka public schools. CAE's special report, written by Catrin Wigfall, a Policy Fellow at the Center of the American Experiment, opens by saying "Enrollment in Minnesota’s public schools has declined again, according to data recently uploaded by the Minnesota Department of Education. For the 2023-24 school year, public schools lost roughly 0.2 percent of K-12 students — 1,425 — from the previous year. Nonpublic enrollment ticked up just under 1 percent; homeschool enrollment increased 10 percent . " Unfortunately, that isn't the only statistic highlighting the failure of Minnesota's government schools. Ms. Wigfall's special report finishes by saying " As of spring 2023 data , the majority of Minnesota students aren’t meeting reading or math standards. " Enrollment is declining because these govern

Alan Dershowitz's red line, Joe Biden edition

Alan Dershowitz has likely voted for the Democrats' presidential nominee since I was born. That's why I took notice when he announced via Twitter  that he's establishing his own red line which he won't cross. He said "Israelis have a right to have a preference as to who is going to be president. But here you have Schumer and Biden, who provide arms for Israel, basically threatening Israel, and recently, Biden hinted, not quite said, but that if Israel doesn't listen to his red lines, he might suggest cutting off ammunition and arms to Israel. Dershowitz continued, saying "Let me tell you, that's my red line. I want President Biden to understand this clearly, that if he cuts off arms to Israel and prevents Israel from defending itself against Hamas aggression, I promise you I will not vote for Joe Biden. If you cross that red line, I will go out and campaign and urge people not to vote for you." Watch Prof. Dershowitz draw his own red line: I may n

SD-14 endorsing convention news

Image
This past Saturday, the SD-14 Republicans held their endorsing convention. Delegates for HD-14A took little time in endorsing Rep. Bernie Perryman by acclimation. Rep. Perryman ran unopposed. Meanwhile, longtime GOP activist Sue Ek won endorsement on the first ballot with 65% of the vote. After winning the endorsement, Ek's campaign issued this statement: First, in the interest of full disclosure, I've known Sue Ek for more than 15 years. That means that I'm biased, though that doesn't mean I can't see things objectively. OPINION: Unlike Rep. Wolgamott, Sue Ek will represent the voters in HD-14B. Wolgamott represented (in this order) Melissa Hortman and the DFL. STATEMENT OF FACTS: Wolgamott voted for some ultra-controversial bills during the 2023 budget session. When Wolgamott voted for the HHS omnibus bill, he voted for the repeal of the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, which provided legal protection infants who survived an abortion. (What type of ghoul would r

Joe Biden shafts Israel, Israel rejects U.S. chaos

Image
Joe Biden can't help himself. The Biden administration's foreign policy mistakes just keep coming. This morning, the U.S. abstained from voting on a U.N. Security Council resolution that calls "for a ceasefire in Gaza." The U.S. abstention allowed for the UNSC resolution to pass on a vote of 14 yays, no nays and the U.S. abstention. Had the U.S. voted no, which it should have done, the resolution would've gotten vetoed. Instead, Israeli PM Netanyahu is forced into negotiating with Hamas terrorists for Israel's hostages from a position of weakness. Despite the U.S. not voting on the resolution, John Kirby, the NSC's designated liar, insisted that U.S. policy toward Israel hadn't changed . Kirby lied when he said "Today as you all know, we abstained on a U.N. Security Council resolution calling for a cease-fire in Gaza, until the end of Ramadan and the release of all the hostages. Our vote does not, -I repeat does not- represent a shift in our poli

Another Trump defeat of Lawfare Democrats

Image
Back in the 20th century, Timex ran a series of ads featuring the punchline "Takes a licking but keeps on ticking." That punchline might need to be revitalized for what I'm calling Lawfare Democrats, who can't seem to defeat Donald Trump in the courts. In that sense, Lawfare Democrats have taken a licking in NY's appellate courts but they still persist. The NY Post is reporting this morning that "Donald Trump was granted some reprieve as an appeals court drastically cut the $454 million bond he was required to post in his New York civil fraud case Monday. A five-judge panel reduced the massive amount to $175 million and gave Trump 10 days to come up with the funds, according to a brief decision handed down by the Appellate Division, First Department Monday morning." Adding insult to injury The Post is also reporting "The First Department put on hold other parts of Engoron’s decision, including the portions barring Trump, his two eldest sons Eric an

Salena Zito: Pittsburgh & Philadelphia aren't where Pennsylvania will be won

Image
According to Salena Zito's latest article, Pennsylvania's 19 electoral votes won't be decided who wins Pittsburgh and Philadelphia . That's a rather bold statement from Ms. Zito. Still, it isn't that surprising considering the fact that she's understood the Trump phenomenon since before Trump ran. Ms. Zito has often said, " In short, Trump did not create this coalition. He is the result of it. " These aren't the observations of a DC insider who's read 10,000 polls. As Ms. Zito said in this article, "As a reporter, I have always spent my time on the back roads observing and talking to voters outside the big cities. I noticed eight years ago the people who live 15 minutes outside of any major city had no hesitation placing Trump signs in their yards." In short, she does her homework from her SUV, the local diners and from high school gymnasiums and football fields, not from a cubicle. What's the big deal? No big deal, right? Well,

Julia Coleman, Peggy Scott call out Heather Gustafson's PR stunt

Image
If the DFL had integrity, they wouldn't be trying to pull a PR stunt like they're attempting with their straw gun purchase legislation. This Fox9 report says everything when it says "Strengthening punishments for straw gun purchases took on new importance at the Capitol after the catastrophe in Burnsville last month. 'This motion is urgent because three men are dead,' said Sen. Julia Coleman (R-Waconia)." Rep. Peggy Scott has proposed this bill each of the epast 4 years. It's gone nowhere until a month ago. That's when first responders Paul Elmstrand, Matthew Ruge, and Adam Finseth were shot and killed in Burnsville. According to Fox9's reporting, the alleged gunman "was banned from owning firearms, but court documents indicate a girlfriend bought him several." This is the key paragraph in the article. It says "Democratic Sen. Heather Gustafson cloned Coleman’s bill and introduced it Thursday. She told us she’s in a better position

Conservative principles for election season

Image
The Invasion of Busybody Government? Minnesota state government is intruding in people's lives too much. That's especially true in the last year. When I talk about limited government, I'm not just talking about limiting spending. This article highlights another way that DFL government is improperly invading our lives. The article highlights how a family project was almost turned into a government boondoggle. The article opens by saying "For years, my daughter, who is 12, has asked to have a room in the basement. My wife finally relented, and the two of them recently gave a fresh paint job to what will be her new room on the lowest level." This is where the DFL Trifecta is intruding. The article continues, saying "I’m relieved they got the job done quickly, because a new bill (SF 3554) proposed by the state legislature in our home state of Minnesota seeks to impose strict new regulations on who can paint, and what kind of paints can be used. " This sound

Border security in a nutshell

Image
If you listen to White House Karinne Jean-Pierre, aka KJP, the border is Republicans' fault. That's because Republicans didn't vote for the Bipartisan Open Borders Bill. That's why I recommend that you not pay attention to KJP. Other dishonest Democrats will insist that Republicans are making a mountain out of a molehill. The reality is that this issue is a legitimate mountain. Tied into this issue are crime, city budgets getting destabilized and cities themselves getting destabilized. El Paso, especially, is the personification of what's hurting Democrats. This article highlights the ongoing fight between TX Gov. Abbott and Joe Biden. This isn't a fight that Biden is winning. The article reports "Just as illegal immigrants rushed the southern border in El Paso, Texas, the Biden administration is locked in a months-long legal battle with Gov. Greg Abbott over a controversial anti-illegal immigration law." Gov. Abbott is doing whatever he can to protec

Joe Biden's war against the internal combustion engine

Image
Joe Biden has waged war against Detroit's internal combustion engine for a long time. He spent 8 years as VP waging war against fossil fuels. Now he's spent every day of his administration waging war against both fossil fuels and the cars that use them. It's incomprehensible that Biden can march in a union strike this summer, then put in place policies that destroy Detroit's auto manufacturers this winter. Kim Strassel's latest column doesn't pull punches. For instance, she wrote "This week’s Environmental Protection Agency tailpipe rule amounts to an imminent ban on gasoline-powered cars, never mind the soothing language of “incentivizing” a “transition.” Last year, 84% of all cars sold in America were powered by internal-combustion engines. By 2027, the government will restrict that share to 64%. In eight years, the cap will be 29%. High demand for the few gasoline vehicles still made at that point will drive up prices, making them unattainable to anyone

Ben Shapiro's Trump fundraiser

Image
I was more than a little surprised to read Ben Shapiro's Daily Wire article stating that he's hosting a fundraiser for Donald Trump this week. The first question I asked was simple: why'd he do that? It didn't take much reading to get Mr. Shapiro's reply. Shapiro replied "Donald Trump's opponent is Joe Biden. And Joe Biden is the worst president of my lifetime. " I sat there staring at that last sentence. I'll admit that I couldn't move past it for awhile. Biden is the worst president of my lifetime, too, and I've lived longer than Mr. Shapiro. (He's 40. I'm 68.) That means he's endured 1 fewer bad president than I have. He was born in 1984, the year of President Reagan's landslide victory, which means he missed the fun times of the Carter administration. He missed out on the creation of the Department of Education and the term misery index. But I digress. Then Mr. Shapiro wrote "My calculus is simple: America was bett

Hunting for Hunter Biden

Image
I'm old enough to remember when Abbe Lowell, the high-priced mouthpiece to high-profile spoiled rich kids (think Hunter Biden), said that his client (the aforementioned Hunter Biden) wouldn't sit for a House deposition. Lowell said that Hunter would only testify at an open hearing. Apparently, Lowell's word is as worthless as Joe or Hunter Biden's word. Lowell backed down. Hunter sat for a closed-door deposition. Today, Lowell said that Hunter will be a no-show for the House open hearing. Fox News is reporting "House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer is expected to open the hearing by explaining that throughout the impeachment inquiry, investigators have 'found no credible evidence of the Bidens providing any work product' and has 'identified no legitimate value or document or even one single hour of work that the Bidens have provided their business partners.'" It's possible that Joe Biden understood that Hunter isn't that good

DFL ignores First Amendment via Minnesota Human Rights Act

Image
Anyone that thinks that the DFL (Minnesotan for whacked-out Marxist-progressives) has a soul should read this article . Last year, the DFL slipped language into the Minnesota Human Rights Act that stripped religious institutions of protections against "gender identity discrimination." Those protections were in the Act from its initial passage. Last year, those protections were intentionally stripped from the Act, which I wrote about here and here . Rep. Harry Niska, (R-Ramsey), led the fight to restore those protections. Unfortunately, Rep. Niska's amendment was defeated. According to the article, "Republicans in the Minnesota Legislature have been met with resistance and hostility in their attempt to restore protections for religious institutions that disagree with the state’s views on gender. Sen. Warren Limmer, R-Maple Grove, put forward an amendment to a bill during a committee hearing early Tuesday morning that 'restores the exemption in the Minnesota Human

Joe Scarborough's, Morning Joe's bloodbath

Image
Joe Scarborough's show doesn't get much attention except when he says something outrageous. The thing is that Joe's getting more polished at getting attention by saying outrageous things as he gains experience. This past weekend, Joe gained lots of attention for his intentionally misleading rant about Donald Trump's bloodbath statement. Scarborough got that attention when Elon Musk, aka the world's smartest man, hit Joe where it hurts most -- in public. Scarborough said that Trump "promised another 'bloodbath' if he loses again." That's when things went south for Scarborough. Elon Musk replied , saying "Jan 6 was not a 'bloodbath' by any definition and Trump was referring to job losses in the auto industry when he used that word. Your post is extremely misleading." Shortly thereafter, Scarborough deleted his bloodbath tweet. Unfortunately for Scarborough, he just couldn't leave it alone. Come Monday morning, he still hadn

Biden: invasion of Rafah would be big mistake

Image
If Israeli PM Benjamini Netanyahu needed confirmation that invading Rafah is the right thing to do, he got that confirmation today. Politico is reporting that Joe Biden thinks that there's a better way of fighting against Hamas. Jake Sullivan, Biden's NSA, briefed reporters after the phone call between Biden and Netanyahu. Sullivan is quoted as saying "I want you to understand, Mr. Prime Minister, exactly where I am on this. I am for the defeat of Hamas. I believe that they are an evil terrorist group with not just Israeli, but American blood on their hands. At the same time, I believe that to get to that you need a strategy that works, and that strategy should not involve a major military operation that puts thousands and thousands of innocent civilian lives at risk in Rafah. There is a better way." If Biden says fighting in Rafah is wrong, then Israel should invade Rafah whenever Israel is ready. If Joe Biden says it's the wrong time to invade, that's proof

Democrats' latest dishonest hoax: Trump's bloodbath

Image
It's disgraceful to watch NBC report things that take a 5-second search to discredit. To be fair, NBC did report accurately what Trump said at the rally in Ohio. Trump said "If you’re listening, President Xi, and you and I are friends, but he understands the way I deal. Those big monster car manufacturing plants that you’re building in Mexico right now … you’re going to not hire Americans and you’re going to sell the cars to us, no. We’re going to put a 100% tariff on every single car that comes across the line, and you’re not going to be able to sell those cars if I get elected." Joe Biden is too compromised with China. Biden has let China walk all over the U.S., with ignoring the Chinese spy balloon being the best example of Biden being compromised. Then Trump continued, saying "Now if I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath for the whole — that’s gonna be the least of it. It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country. That will be the least of it. But t

Joe Biden's senior moment keeps growing

Image
The AP is reporting that Joe Biden is feeling a little cocky these days. The AP is reporting "The big news this week, President Joe Biden said at a weekend Washington roast, was that two candidates had clinched their party’s nomination for president. But one was too old, too mentally unfit for the job, he said. 'The other’s me,' Biden quipped." That's rich. Then again, Democrats aren't known for being honest. Perhaps Joe should remember that he's the guy who visited North Carolina, gave a speech, then ended his speech by turning to shake hands with a ghost . Thank God he didn't freeze on the world stage. Oh wait. He did . Actually, Joe Biden specializes in freezing on the world stage. Actually, that isn't entirely true. Biden is quite good at looking like a blithering idiot here at home, too. If we want a president who isn't frequently confused, then Joe Biden isn't the choice. Check this out: Which way do I go? Just watch me: Joe, we wa

Joe Biden, Chuck Schumer, Democrats, won't let Israel win

Image
Anyone that's paid attention to Israel after the October 7th Massacre has seen that Joe Biden's heart wasn't into Israel defeating Hamas. Though the press insisted that Biden really meant it when he said he'd stand steadfast with Israel, there were too many signals that the alliance was a wobbly alliance from the start. This week, Chuck Schumer took to the Senate floor to call for regime change in Israel . That's bad but it isn't the worst. The previous week, Joe Biden invited Benni Gantz, Bibi Netanyahu's chief rival, to the White House. It's apparent that these Democrats' definition of a 2-State Solution is doing everything they can to keep Minnesota and Michigan in the Democrats' column. After reading this WSJ article , it's totally obvious that this administration doesn't want Israel to defeat the Hamas terrorists. The article opens by saying "Mounting international pressure to end the war won’t weaken Israel’s resolve to accompl

Chuck Schumer's demise is well-deserved

Image
In the past 24 hours, Chuck Schumer went from being Senate Majority Leader to being persona non grata in Israel. He has only himself to blame for that. Forner U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman is so upset with Sen. Schumer that he wrote this op-ed to express his outrage. Apparently, Coleman and Schumer have a great deal of familiarity with each other that extends past their time in the U.S. Senate together. According to Sen. Coleman's op-ed, "I’ve known Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) since we were schoolmates at PS 197 and James Madison High School in Brooklyn. The high school boasts an impressive number of Jewish graduates who went on to become leaders in their fields of endeavor, from entertainers and sports stars to Nobel Prize winning scientists and well-known public officials, including Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg." The reason behind Sen. Coleman's outrage is Sen. Schumer's speech on the Senate floor from Thursday. That's

Mary Moriarty, the officer-hating prosecutor?

Image
When I first read that Mary Moriarty was running to become the next Hennepin County District Attorney, I got sick to my stomach. Thus far, she's been a disaster in high heels. Finally, we're finding proof that Ms. Moriarty hates police officers. Alpha News is reporting that "Chief Rutherford criticized Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty for the current controversy surrounding a use-of-force expert that was hired by her office to examine the Londregan case." Here's the details of "Londregan case." On Feb. 26, 2024, Alpha News reported "Trooper Londregan, 27, had been on the job for a couple of years when in July, Ricky Cobb was pulled over by the Minnesota State Patrol. A trooper initiated a traffic stop and discovered that Cobb was wanted in Ramsey County in connection to a felony order for protection violation. Cobb refused to comply with orders to exit his vehicle, so one of the state troopers on scene opened Cobb’s door and tried to remove

While Joe Biden tries unseating Bibi Netanyahu, Mitch McConnell defends Netanyahu

Image
Joe Biden isn't acting in Israel's best interests. That's because he's acting like a politician interested in his own election. People have been talking about a "two-state solution" to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict for more years than I can remember. Last week, Sen. Marco Rubio, (R-FL), told Sean Hannity that Biden's version of the two-state solution was doing whatever it took to save Michigan and Minnesota for this year's election. Right now, that sounds about right. This morning, Mitch McConnell took to the Senate floor to speak about Israeli sovereignty and Biden's attempt to walk away from Israel. Mitch opened that speech by saying "The Jewish state of Israel deserves an ally that acts like one.The people of Israel, at home and in captivity, deserve America’s support. And Israel’s unity government and security cabinet deserve the deference befitting a sovereign, democratic country." Joe Biden has repeatedly sided with Hamas in thi

DFL proposes Universal Basic Income for illegal aliens

Image
Earlier this session, the DFL legislature proposed a bill that would've made Minnesota a sanctuary state. Thankfully, that bill was stopped. The DFL is nothing if not persistent. They've given up on that initiative (for now). Instead of that, the DFL is pushing a bill that would "establish a pilot program" that "would sprinkle $100,000,000 across the state in the form of no less than $500 monthly payments to certain low-income Minnesotans, including illegal aliens." Alpha News is reporting that "Rep. Athena Hollins, DFL-St. Paul, introduced HF2666 last year. The bill didn’t receive a hearing amidst a historic legislative session where Democrats spent down a $17.5 billion surplus and increased the state budget by more than 38 percent. But with news earlier this month that the state has a projected $3.7 billion surplus, Hollins’ bill received a hearing in the House Children and Families Committee." This is the Trifecta at work. Here's the DFL

George Stephanopoulos vs. Megyn Kelly, Nancy Mace

Image
This morning, I'm betting that George Stephanopoulos wishes he hadn't mistreated Rep. Nancy Mace, (R-NC), on his Sunday morning political show. If Stephanopoulos hadn't mistreated Rep. Mace this badly, he likely wouldn't have been the subject of Megyn Kelly's blistering monologue . During her monologue, Ms. Kelly lit into him as only a lawyer can. Kelly's monologue opened with a drenching dose of sarcasm, saying "Our final Oscar for Sanctimonious Leftists Pretending They are Better Than You is a dark horse contender when you consider he’s not even an actor! George Stephanopolous! Yes, another ABC-er! The lifelong Democrat took to his Sunday show yesterday and decided to really press Republican and Trump-endorser Nancy Mace on how on earth she can support a guy who’s been found liable of sexual assault, especially when – as he pointed out to Mace – she is a rape survivor! It’s such an opportunity when you can use a woman’s rape against her!... What a kind, s
