Kill this Minnesota bill immediately

The bill described in this article couldn't be supported by freedom-loving people. If passed and signed into law, the Sustainable Transportation Act would "reduce vehicle miles traveled by at least 20 percent by 2050, on a statewide basis." Rep. Frank Hornstein, DFL-Minneapolis, isn't the brightest bulb in the DFL's chandelier. According to Rep. Hornstein, "a reduction in vehicle miles traveled, or VMT, is needed 'if we are going to make headway in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the transportation sector. Transportation is now the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions and we’ve had the least amount of reduction in the transportation sector.'" What's needed, Rep. Hornstein, is for the State Department to negotiate a treaty with megapolluters like China, India and Russia that requires them to reduce their GHG emissions. Why should the US restrict ourselves when other nations are ignoring climate change? We're already leading

How Joe Biden unofficially gutted CBP

Image
Joe Biden has officially gutted CBP without Congress passing legislation curtailing CBP. What's happening at the border is slick. (That isn't meant as a compliment.) What's happening is "hundreds of parents and children have been spending hours at an outdoor processing station next to the Rio Grande, some sleeping on the ground while they wait for agents to formally take them into custody. Roy Villareal, who retired last year after 33 years in the Border Patrol, said about 40 percent of those taken into CBP custody now are children and families, but they consume 60 to 70 percent of agents’ time, attention and paperwork . 'Border security drops tremendously because of this,' he said, noting that drug traffickers often choreograph the crossings of large groups of families to tie up agents in one area while moving narcotics in another." Gutting Customs and Border Protection with legislation would've been met with outrage because people want protectio

Are Democrats turning on Joe Biden?

Image
Is the Biden Border Crisis causing Democrats to turn against Joe Biden? After reading this article , it's difficult not to picture Democrats turning on the Biden administration. This isn't about ideology as much as it's about practicality. Joe Biden doesn't have a plan for this influx of illegal aliens. Yes, they're illegal aliens. They aren't undocumented workers. That's a euphemism. This shift started when "Del Rio Mayor Bruno Lozano, a Democrat, criticized President Biden in an appearance on Fox News for releasing illegal aliens into his city without having a plan for meeting their needs, and characterized the events along the southern border as a 'Biden border crisis.'" The article continued, saying "Lozano said the Del Rio border patrol sector’s chief border patrol agent, Austin Skero II, told him there were just under 1,000 individuals in custody in that sector and more than 250 of them were unaccompanied minors." That'

Joe Biden's humanitarian catastrophe

Image
Joe Biden and Jen 'Circle Back' Psaki think that playing word games still are effective in dealing with the Biden Border Catastrophe. That strategy should be scrapped before the administration loses what's left of its administration's credibility. This article includes photos from the scene of the crime. The photos were taken by GOP senators on a fact-finding mission in Texas. They cast the Biden administration in a terrible light. Frankly, what's seen in the pictures is disgusting. Secretary Mayorkas should be terminated immediately for letting this catastrophe happen. This isn't humane. It's repulsive. This is just one photo from the CBP facility in Donna, TX: These are the pictures the Biden administration doesn’t want the American people to see. This is why they won’t allow the press. This is the CBP facility in Donna, Texas. This is a humanitarian and a public health crisis. pic.twitter.com/UlibmvAeGN — Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) March 26, 2021 The Biden a

Joe Biden's disastrous news conference

Image
Joe Biden's news conference is the worse presidential news conference I've ever watched. Normally, I'd embed the video of the entire presser. I won't do that this time. I wouldn't with that on my worst enemy. What I'll do instead is invite those with great intestinal fortitude to read the transcript . That's somewhat more palatable. Let's be clear about something. This wasn't about Joe Biden being transparent and honest. This presser was about Joe Biden lying his arse off. For instance, Joe Biden actually said "The reason they’re coming is that it’s the time they can travel with the least likelihood of dying on the way because of the heat and the desert, number one. Number two, they’re coming because of the circumstances in country, in country. The way to deal with this problem, and I started to deal with it back when I was Vice President putting together a bipartisan plan of over $700 million to do the root causes of why people are leaving. Joy Reid's propaganda ministry

Image
When MSNBC's Joy Reid insisted last night that the border crisis was just a challenge , she painted herself into a corner. She also exposed herself as a partisan hack of the highest order. Last night, Reid said "Yes, migration at the southern border is a genuine political challenge, an on-going one that spans several previous administrations. But is it a crisis as Republicans so desperately want the media to portray it as?" The straightforward answer is yes. When 694 children are put in a facility with a capacity limit of 80, that's the definition of a crisis. When FEMA is called to the border to help with the situation, it's an emergency. When the Biden administration spends $86,900,000 on hotels to house illegal immigrant families, that's far beyond a challenge. Here's a note to Ms. Reid. It isn't just Republicans who think this is a crisis. Mexican President Obrador thinks there's a crisis at the US-Mexico border, too: "Expectations wer

Biden's Border Crisis erupts

Image
Last night on Hannity, Lindsey Graham told Hannity that he'll be part of a Senate delegation to visit the border facilities on Friday. Sen. Graham further told Hannity that he'd better be granted access to the housing facilities, adding that they'll shut down the Senate if they aren't granted access. The tipping point has been reached. Sen. Graham added to Sara Carter's reporting on the overcrowding at these detention facilities. Carter obtained a whistleblower's email that said, in part, "The overcrowding is inhumane, especially for the children. Pod 3A is designed to hold 80 people and on this day we have 694 unaccompanied children with two agents maintaining custody . That is 867% of the stated capacity of this detention space. The agents cannot possibly provide for the care, health and safety of aliens in our custody, nor can we reasonably do so for ourselves." Here's videotape of Sen. Graham's interview with Hannity: I've been p

The Biden border cover-up continues

Image
DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was sent out to the Sunday shows to put out the Biden Border Crisis fire. Instead, he poured gasoline on that fire, saying that DHS is working to provide tape to reporters on conditions in "the Customs and Border Patrol housing facilities." Undoubtedly, some in the media will think that's just fine. Those that'll be fine with it are either lazy or propagandists. The other possibility is that they're lazy because they're propagandists. But I digress. Mayorkas started his spin, saying "We are focused on our operations, executing our operations, in a crowded border patrol facility where hundreds of vulnerable migrant children are located." He continued, saying "We’re working on providing footage so that the American public can see the border patrol stations." TRANSLATION: 'We'll send you a videotape of everything looking under control once we get everything under control." After hiding the con

The Democrats' filibuster problem

Image
There are plenty of times when I get annoyed with Mitch McConnell. Similarly, there are lots of times when I thoroughly enjoy Kim Strassel's column. In Ms. Strassel's latest column , Ms. Strassel highlights Sen. McConnell's Tuesday speech in which Sen. McConnell essentially warned the Senate as a whole that eliminating the filibuster won't speed up the Senate. Ms. Strassel notes what would happen if the filibuster were eliminate when she wrote "There are even more creative ideas, but these tools alone would be enough to paralyze the institution. The Senate convenes. Quorum call. The presiding officer asks for consent to forgo reading yesterday’s journal. Republicans object. Roll call vote. The officer asks for consent to speed through 'morning business.' Republicans object. Democrats move to get on an issue. Point of order. Roll-call vote. Quorum call. Republicans object to the motion. Roll-call vote. A speech. Quorum call. Etc., and so on, until adjournm
