Alan Dershowitz's red line, Joe Biden edition

Alan Dershowitz has likely voted for the Democrats' presidential nominee since I was born. That's why I took notice when he announced via Twitter that he's establishing his own red line which he won't cross. He said "Israelis have a right to have a preference as to who is going to be president. But here you have Schumer and Biden, who provide arms for Israel, basically threatening Israel, and recently, Biden hinted, not quite said, but that if Israel doesn't listen to his red lines, he might suggest cutting off ammunition and arms to Israel.

Dershowitz continued, saying "Let me tell you, that's my red line. I want President Biden to understand this clearly, that if he cuts off arms to Israel and prevents Israel from defending itself against Hamas aggression, I promise you I will not vote for Joe Biden. If you cross that red line, I will go out and campaign and urge people not to vote for you." Watch Prof. Dershowitz draw his own red line:

Prof. Dershowitz outlines his thinking in this article:

Dershowitz expressed profound dismay at the administration’s stance, stating, "I was surprised by the US decision not to veto Israel. This is a terrible decision, because it gives Hamas everything it wants, without demanding anything in return. This will lengthen the war. This is a terrible decision both for us and for Israel."

Expressing astonishment, Dershowitz criticized the US decision, asserting, "Many Americans won’t vote for Biden after this. This vote is not a difference between Biden and Netanyahu, this is a difference between Biden and Israel. There is no dispute about the need of getting the hostages back. Biden is going against Israel."

Dershowitz further contended that this decision could have repercussions beyond the realm of foreign policy, potentially affecting domestic political dynamics. He suggested that disillusionment with the Biden Administration’s position on Israel might lead to a loss of support from certain segments of the American electorate, noting, "I’ve been voting Democrats since 1960. This is the first time that I am thinking of not voting for them. I can’t vote for them, because that is a vote against Israel."

Consider this the shot heard round the Jewish world. This isn't just a negotiating tactic. This is a principled man stating where he draws the line of 'No More!'
