Ben Shapiro's Trump fundraiser

I was more than a little surprised to read Ben Shapiro's Daily Wire article stating that he's hosting a fundraiser for Donald Trump this week. The first question I asked was simple: why'd he do that? It didn't take much reading to get Mr. Shapiro's reply. Shapiro replied "Donald Trump's opponent is Joe Biden. And Joe Biden is the worst president of my lifetime."

I sat there staring at that last sentence. I'll admit that I couldn't move past it for awhile. Biden is the worst president of my lifetime, too, and I've lived longer than Mr. Shapiro. (He's 40. I'm 68.) That means he's endured 1 fewer bad president than I have. He was born in 1984, the year of President Reagan's landslide victory, which means he missed the fun times of the Carter administration. He missed out on the creation of the Department of Education and the term misery index. But I digress.

Then Mr. Shapiro wrote "My calculus is simple: America was better off under Donald Trump than it is in under Joe Biden. At home, America was safer and more prosperous. When Donald Trump was president, we did not have an open border. We were not flooding our country with at least 7 million illegal immigrants, overwhelming our cities, leaving our country wide open to the plague of Chinese- and Mexican drug cartel-backed fentanyl poisoning."

In other words, the U.S. was pretty much better off in every measurable way and in many intangible ways. Bidenworld is chaotic on a daily basis. We jump from crisis to crisis. Trumpworld meant we jumped from one mean tweet to another. Mind you, most of those mean tweets happened in the middle of the night.

Whatever you thought of Trump, we didn't see things like this during his time in office:

Trump has a drama-filled personality but life itself was quiet. People got ahead with Trump's policies, too. These days, Biden talks about his loyalty to unions while he sells high-paying union jobs to China and Mexico:

Finally, we didn't have to worry about Trump looking confused getting off the stage. With Biden, we get this or something like it once-a-week:

Biden is definitely one-of-a-kind, just not in a positive way.

  1. I always have two "excuses" for Trump. The first is that he is a problem-solver, the natural outgrowth of a man his age who has accomplished much and is now determined to "give back" with his particular skillset. The second is that the "mean tweets" and general pugnacity stem from the outrageous nature of the opposition to his common-sense solutions. The Left is crazy and do not tolerate being told so. You have to "raise your voice a bit" to be heard above their bleating and he did that. As I call it, "offending all the right people."
