Border report, Venezuela edition

Image
On live TV Monday, Fox News videotaped a group of illegal immigrants coming across the Rio Grande River near Del Rio, TX. All 52 people captured were from Venezuela. The video proves that Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas lied last week when he said "The border remains closed and as a part of our all-of-government approach, we are not only addressing the challenges of the unaccompanied minors, pursuant to the law, but also the challenges of every other element, including the human smuggling organizations that exploit vulnerable children." That's a pair of bald-faced lies. First, the border isn't closed when 52 Venezuelans cross the Rio Grande on Monday and another 46 Venezuelans cross on Sunday. Harris Faulkner essentially gave a play-by-play of Monday's crossing, saying "You see the steady stream of people coming across the border with Mexico entering our nation without going through a legal checkpoint, without any of those things. You don't see them being...

Eric Holder's latest failure

Image
Eric Holder tried to reshape the 2020 elections. According to Salena Zito's reporting , Holder failed. That isn't earth-shaking news. Why he failed is noteworthy, though. According to Ms. Zito, "all of the money, power, and influence was circulated by the same set of people who all share the same worldview. They never once considered that the people they were trying to buy, influence, and push to their side didn’t share that worldview or their values." It isn't that they weren't well-funded, either: Within months, Holder managed to raise raised over $10 million. By the start of 2020, he had raised over $50 million. Then, during the election, he targeted 13 states to flip legislative chambers and put his organization to work behind more than 250 state-level candidates. That should've been enough cash to flip a few majorities. It failed. The reason it failed isn't just that the people didn't share Holder's worldview. It failed because Trump...

The underreported part of the Biden border crisis

Image
Buck Sexton's article is an in-depth article about what's happening at the US-Mexico border. Part of Buck's article highlights something that the MSM isn't covering. What isn't getting covered is how the cartels are getting rich off of the Biden administration's policies. Sexton's reporting that's gone underreported highlights the cartel's drug trade. Sexton wrote "But there’s another critical piece of the crisis that gets largely overlooked: the endless loads of narcotics that are transiting the southern border every day. These drugs, mostly cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl, end up in cities and towns across America. According to the CDC, America had more than 80,000 fatal drug overdoses in 2020… this nation’s highest ever." TRANSLATION: Each time a US president ignores the border, the cartels cash in. Each time the cartels cash in, people OD. These overdoses destroy families and their communities. Nothing positive-soundin...

Stupid Joe Biden is killing Big Pharma

Image
In addition to not having a spine, Joe Biden is proving that he isn't too bright. Kim Strassel's latest Potomac Watch column gives a detailed list of what Biden has gotten wrong. The opening paragraph states "The White House this week proposed to strip drug companies of their vaccine patents, an act hailed by adulators as 'moral leadership.' It's better seen as the encapsulation of the Biden presidency—a case study in fictional narratives, executive overreach, recklessness, and kowtowing to the left." After Pfizer and Moderna worked miracles to create their vaccines, the Biden administration 'rewards' them by stripping them of their patent rights. If that sounds like the Biden administration are punishing Pfizer and Moderna, that's because the Biden administration is punishing Pfizer and Moderna. Biden doesn't sound any different than Bernie Sanders sounded in this videotaped statement: Strassel continued with her indictment of Biden: T...

Joe Biden's jobs report flop

The Democrats lobbied hard for excessive unemployment when pushing through a $2,000,000,000,000 'COVID relief package'. Apparently, that policy came back to bite Democrats in the April jobs report. The April jobs report showed only 266,000 jobs getting created. 'Experts' were expecting almost 1,000,000 jobs to be created last month. "The unemployment rate rose to 6.1%, the Labor Department said. Dow Jones estimates had been for 1 million new jobs and an unemployment rate of 5.8%." That wasn't the only bad jobs news, either. "March’s originally estimated total of 916,000 was revised down to 770,000, though February saw an upward revision to 536,000 from 468,000." Ed Morrissey nails it with this explanation: Let’s tackle the government-created perverse incentives first. The federal program on pandemic-related unemployment made sense at the beginning when governments destroyed the jobs by forcing businesses to close en masse. Even then, though,...

Defining COVID-19 herd immunity

Image
Dr. Marty Makary isn't buying into Dr. Rochelle Walensky's dire predictions. Dr. Makary's appearance on The Story changed the trajectory of the COVID-19 storyline for the forseeable future. During the interview, he said "Look at the facts: About 57 percent of adults are vaccinated and approximately half of unvaccinated people have natural immunity from prior infection. That’s why US cases have been plummeting, down 31 percent over the past 18 days." Facts are stubborn things. Spin doesn't displace the truth when the truth is stated confidently and repeatedly. Dr. Makary had additional information to share with the people: Well, unfortunately, we have this perception now that's being created by some public health leaders that we need to reach total eradication. We're not gonna get to total absolute risk elimination. That is a false goal and quite honestly it’s being used now to manipulate the public. We heard today again from our public health leader...

Joe Biden's border deception

Image
Rather than enforcing the immigration laws that've already been signed into law, the Biden administration is attempting to lie to the American people . Unfortunately for them, Rep. Henry Cuellar is calling them out on their deception. When the Biden administration posted a photo of an empty facility of the Donna, TX facility, Cuellar didn't let that go. First, here's the photo: Henry Cuellar shredded Jen Psaki's statement in a New York Minute. Psaki said "The amount of time children spend in CBP custody is down 75 percent, from 131 hours at the end of March to under 30 hours now." Enter Cuellar: All they’re doing is, they’re moving kids from one tent to the other tent and saying, 'Oh, they’re not in the Border Patrol [facility]. But they’re right next door. They’re just next door in HHS." Rather than fixing the crisis, the Biden administration is playing games. This is noteworthy: Cuellar is vice chairman of the House Appropriations Homeland Secur...
