Is this proof of the DFL-DSA civil war?
In this articles, I wrote that the Democrat Socialists of America were attempting a hostile takover of the DFL. According to Marjorie Simon, "The DSA is in the midst of a hostile takeover of the DFL right now. That's the report from Marjorie Simon, a lifelong Democrat. Ms. Simon is quoted as saying 'When Aisha Chughtai became the council member, I noticed a disaster. She is a bona fide member of the Democratic Socialists of America. She doesn’t like to respond to emails or calls or voicemails or anything. And she makes a lot of statements that don’t make sense to me. So when I follow up with her, I get absolutely nothing.' This fits with Biden and Sen. Schumer. They're worthless listeners. They've got their agenda and they aren't adjusting for nothing." Check this podcast out:
This article highlights the fact that "a rift within the Minnesota DFL appears to be widening as Democrats continue to grapple with the growing influence of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and the far-left." This isn't a hostile takover. It's a full-fledged capitulation. Here's the proof:In 2025, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey fended off DSA-backed State Sen. Omar Fateh in the city’s mayoral election. Frey and Fateh are both DFLers, but neither received the DFL endorsement during last year’s campaign. The difference between the DFL and the DSA is stylistic and substantive. It's substantive in that the DSA is cold-blooded and intentional. The DFL is spineless. If the ?DFL won't fight for their principles, then they're wimps. Wimps don't last long.Meanwhile, four of the city council’s 13 seats were won by DSA-endorsed candidates, and three other seats were won by candidates supported by a pro-Fateh group. Two of the DSA-endorsed city council candidates were also endorsed by the DFL.
While little is known about who is behind The Humphrey Project, or what activities it will undertake, the group is attempting to draw a distinction between what it calls “Humphrey Democrats” and the DSA.I'm betting that Humphrey Democrats DON'T "support free markets, not central planning or crony capitalism." How fast did the DFL jump aboard the Obamacare train? Are Humphrey Democrats willing to join Republicans in shutting down the Met Council, aka the embodiment of central planning? I'll believe it when I see it. At this point, I'm betting this is a con job sales pitch. Further, the DFL has frequently used questionable tactics to "reform institutions." That's when they've been willing to make serious reforms. CASE IN POINT: MnSCU was built in the mid-1990s. It didn't work then. It hasn't been reformed since its inception. CASE CLOSED!The Humphrey Project highlighted several key issues where Humphrey Democrats and the DSA diverge. On public safety, Humphrey Democrats say they want to “fund and reform law enforcement" while the DSA wants to "defund police."
On economics, Humphrey Democrats say they "support free markets, not central planning or crony capitalism," while the DSA wants to "abolish capitalism and nationalize industry."
Additionally, Humphrey Democrats say they want to "reform institutions through the Constitution" and "pass laws that help people today," while the DSA wants to "rewrite or abolish the Constitution" and "wait for revolution rather than reform."
