The DFL's history of lawlessness
The bill means nothing. The Minnesota state government doesn't control federal ICE or Border Patrol agents any more than cities have the right to tell state troopers what to do.
Sen. Ron Latz, DFL-St. Louis Park, jumped into the fight, saying "All we want are safe communities and the fair treatment under the law. The way ICE agents and Border Patrol agents went about (immigration) enforcement was an absolute abuse of our Constitution. It contravened our constitutional principles. It was without warrants. It was stopping people without lawful basis. It was arresting people without probable cause. It just crossed so many constitutional lines."
Not that I don't trust Sen. Latz but I don't trust Sen. Latz over Tom Homan. These DFL politicians have made the same accusations for months. They've produced no witnesses. Where are these homes that were busted into without warrants? Who were the people busted without probable cause? If that happened, I'd presume that they got deported. Where's the paper trail proving the deportations?
Most of these DFL politicians were part of the defund-the-cops movement. Others want to handcuff ICE so badly that they're totally ineffective or almost totally ineffective. Tom Homan's report:
