Tim Walz's final State of the State Address

Tim Walz's final State of the State Address felt more like the start of the 2026 campaign than it sounded like a governing speech. KARE11 reported "Gov. Walz reflected on governing during the COVID-19 pandemic, racial reckoning, and his run for Vice President, calling his tenure a 'complicated seven years to say the least.' Walz spent a large portion of his speech going over his accomplishments as governor, including laws designed to help children and families. He also encouraged lawmakers to pass bills related to gun safety."

Simply put, Gov. Walz isn't that persuasive. He could have another 10 years in office and still not get his gun agenda passed. That's partially because he isn't that persuasive, partially because most of Gov. Walz's agenda is unconstitutional.

KARE11 is also reporting "After the speech concluded, GOP leaders called it disappointing and felt Gov. Walz did not take enough accountability for the fraud crisis in Minnesota. They also said he did not say enough about what he would do to make Minnesota a more affordable place for people to live." Here's one of the MNGOP's reactions to Gov. Walz's speech:

Here's Harry Niska's response to Gov. Walz's speech: This is a GOP press availability you don't want to miss:

At the end of the press availability, Speaker DeMuth spoke about being a married black woman in the context of voting rights. She said that it was, in her opinion, disrespectful to say it's difficult to vote. This wasn't a cheap political jab at Gov. Walz and the DFL. It was a substantive complaint against the DFL/DSA.
