The campaign Minnesota desperately needs, Part III

Minnesota needs a major discussion on preventing Medicaid fraud. The good news is that 2 major parts of eliminating Medicaid fraud have either been eliminated (Jodi Harpstead) or have announced their retirement at the end of this term (Gov. Tim Walz). While I'm thankful that Harpstead and Gov. Walz won't look the other way on fraud, it's still disturbing to know that others will continue their work of fostering an atmosphere of unaccountability. The best way to establish an atmosphere of accountability, in my opinion, is to install Faye Bernstein as Commissioner of Minnesota's Department of Human Services.

Faye Bernstein provided emotional testimony at a hearing of the House Judiciary Committee. At the hearing Bernstein said "The retaliation and the smear campaign is strong. I was called everything from incompetent to — a favorite is racist. People who speak about fraud at state agencies, the first thing that leadership goes to is racism. And that is very hard to take."

This is how the DFL machine functions. Anyone, be they Republican or Democrat, that speaks truth to power is belittled, frequently by getting called racist. It's painfully obvious that DFL politicians are ruthless. Minnesota needs politicians that serve their constituents. We don't need politicians who seemlessly into the Machine.

“The resolution on impeachment investigations is dumb, and I don’t understand what we’re doing here,” said state Rep. Sydney Jordan. “We actually have a fraud committee that could be doing this, but they haven’t heard any bills to actually crack down on fraud."

Jordan accused Republicans of pursuing the measure for publicity rather than reform. "You’re obviously just doing this for social media clips, as social media clips have already been referenced," Jordan said. "This is for campaign emails and fundraising."

Anyone looking at $9,000,000,000 worth of fraud, then essentially calling it a gimmick isn't a serious person. Watch Rep. Peggy Scott. then Rep. Erin Koegel:

Rep. Scott spoke about things that this DFL admionistration did that the state legislature has jurisdiction over. Rep. Koegel complained about President Trump, someone that the legislature doesn't have control over. Rep. Koegel defended the DFL by attacking the White House. Next time, politicians should bring substantive complaints, not whiney complaints. Faye Bernstein's testimony:

Notice that it didn't matter if fraud was happening on their watch. The DFL's first instinct was to call their co-workers racists. This isn't as much about policy as it is about driving home the message that 'the Machine sticks together!' How sick.
