The campaign Minnesota desperately needs, Part II

On Sunday, I wrote a post titled Is the DFL failing K-12 students? In the post, I quoted from Ben Bakeberg's weekly legislative update. In Principal Bakeberg's weekly legislative update, he wrote 'Over time, we’ve moved away from clear standards and meaningful measures of academic readiness. Teachers are handling more classroom disruptions, and that takes away from students who are there to learn. In some cases, it’s becoming a safety issue. Schools are also being stretched thin and have been for some time. There are roughly 65 mandates coming out of St. Paul that districts are expected to follow, many without funding. That forces schools to shift time and resources just to stay in compliance. Meanwhile, spending continues to grow in areas that don’t reach the classroom like the Minnesota Department of Education."

With class sizes already too big, St. Paul is requiring schools statewide to shift manpower away from classrooms to pay for other things. That's downright foolish. That's just the tip of the iceberg, though. Additional money is getting shifted to pay salaries and benefits for people employed at the Minnesota Department of Education. If MDE HQ is like MNSCU's Central Office, then it's just a parking spot for cronies who can't retire but are tired of teaching.

Parents deserve better for their tax dollars. Minnesota test scores keep dropping. Money keeps flying out the door. Further, MDE was caught ignoring the Feeding Our Future scandal, which cost taxpayers $300,000,000+. Scandals galore + dropping test scores + overspending indicate just 1 thing. MDE and Education Minnesota need a major overhaul.

That won't happen if there's a DFL governor or if the Minnesota House or Senate have DFL majority. This is a good report explaining the Feeding Our Future scandal"

Minnesota's K-12 education system badly needs an overhaul. That won't happen if Minnesotans are subjected to another status quo campaign.
