Is this the Medicaid fraud cover-up?

If I had $% for each time someone said that the cover-up is worse than the scandal, I'd be rich. I'm not rich. But I digress. This article sounds like they're describing the bureaucrats' cover-up. Alpha News reports "A stunning new report from the Office of the Legislative Auditor (OLA) found that staff in the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) backdated or created documents after the audit began in response to the OLA’s requests for information."

Doesn't that sound like they're trying to create clients who used the various services. Medicaid services that've been victims of fraud include Housing Stabilization Services, aka HSS, autism centers, CCAP and day care centers. Judy Randall, who took over for Jim Nobles, said "I do want to talk about what a serious issue this is and how it is, frankly, unacceptable for the agencies we audit to do this type of activity. In the 27-plus years I’ve been with OLA, I have never seen this before. I will say we have had suspicions periodically, but we have never been able to prove it, to document it, and we did in this case. And it’s very troubling."

The grifters have been guilty of collecting money for clients that didn't exist. When Nick Shirley's video went viral in a split-second, it was because there weren't any kids at the CCAP centers. Here's the money paragraph:

"I will add that it wasn’t just one individual that created the documents or backdated the documents. There were several [Behavioral Health Administration] staff that we could identify who had done this and it was across the grant oversight process. So we do believe it was a systemic effort."
That sounds like a game-changer. What Judy Randall is describing is the creation of documents outside of the normal documentary process. It's one thing to document what's happened. It's quite another to create documents to validate invalid claims of people using a Medicaid service. This sounds like a different type of fraud.
Temporary DHS Commissioner Shireen Gandhi addressed the issue in her remarks before the commission.

"I was shocked to hear this information in the exit conference and it is absolutely unacceptable that any staff would provide anything other than accurate representation of the work done to an auditor,” she said.

The Department of Human Services employs mostly Democrats. That isn't really up for debate. It's mostly a statement of fact. Lou Raguse of KARE11 News has done a good job tracking down Medicaid fraud. He's one of the Twin Cities reporters that I trust.

There's no such thing as a perfect crime. Crime involves humans. Whenever people are involved, mistakes will be made. Apparently, these bureaucrats panicked. When they panicked, they apparently made some pretty easy-to-spot mistakes. A tip of the hat to Judy Randall and her investigators. They've earned it.

Anyone that thinks that Tim Walz, Minnesota's DFL governor, doesn't care about preventing crime or fraud hasn't read this article . Alpha News is reporting that "The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) has confirmed that Dylan Adams, the fiscal policy analyst caught on video vandalizing Teslas in Minneapolis, is still employed by the state — meaning Minnesota taxpayers are footing the bill for his salary. In response to Alpha News inquiries, a DHS spokesperson said: "Dylan Adams is a current employee." Apparently, the Walz administration doesn't care that it's employing a vandal in its Department of Human Services.
