Peggy Flanagan, Keith Ellison and how to look foolish
This week has brought out the DFL's biggest panderers. Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan tried pandering this week. Suffice it to say that she took it too far. Alpha News reported that "Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan praised Somali migrants in the state during a visit to a market in a video posted on YouTube Thursday." Then Alpha quotes her as saying "Salam Alaikum. My name’s Peggy Flanagan. I am the Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota, and I’m really honored and humbled to be here with all of you today. I am incredibly clear that the Somali community is part of the fabric of the state of Minnesota. I think about my friendship with Nimco. We’ve been friends for almost 25 years and when I think of being part of Minnesota and growing up here, the Somali community has always been a part of my Minnesota."
The thing is that she took things too far. Alpha News reported "Flanagan, who wore a hijab, a head covering worn by some Muslim women, during her visit to the market, held a microphone during the video posted by Somali TV of Minnesota." Here's a picture of Flanagan in the hijab:
Isn't that a form of cultural appropriation? Just kidding. It's definitely pandering. A bunch of Somali 'businesspeople' established some 'businesses' to pilfer from various Medicaid programs. Donald Trump made some over-the-top statements and, before you know it, the DFL is in full-fledged pander mode. Lt. Gov. Flanagan said this, too:So I want to just encourage the community to know that we’re with you, we’ve got your back. I am here shopping today and just encourage other folks to show up, support our Somali businesses, support our immigrant neighbors and I know that things are scary right now, and just know that there are more people who are looking out for you, there are more people who are here to support you than you know.It is scary if you're a Somali grifter who ripped off the people of Minnesota through a handful of different Medicaid programs.
That's before we get to Keith Ellison's pandering. AG Ellison is facing fierce mockery for this:
The last 2:30 of this videotaped interview utterly mocks AG Ellison. This is the "Scam Stoppers" ad:Ellison's opening line is BS. He said "Scammers thought Minnesotans were easy targets. They were wrong." They weren't wrong. Nobody in the Walz administration was allowed to protect Minnesotans. That's why the money leisurely waltzed out the door. It wasn't difficult for the grifters to lift the money and get out the door with their ill-gotten gains. AG Ellison then said "From student loan scams to fake utility callers, we shut them down this year — fast." Too bad he didn't pay attention to the grifters that stole billions of dollars. It would've been nice having an AG who gave a damn about multi-billion-dollar criminal enterprises. AG Ellison just wasn't interested. Too bad he didn't take his job seriously.Scammers thought Minnesotans were easy targets.
