Ilhan Omar jumps into Omar Fateh-Jacob Frey-DFL civil war

Thursday night, things went from unsettled to crazy, then to outright civil war in the Minneapolis mayoral food fight. Just when you thought it couldn't get worse, Ilhan Omar jumped into the fight. Now it's ratcheted up from a DFL civil war to thermonuclear holocaust. Rep. Omar jumped on Twitter and said "It is inexcusable to overturn the DFL endorsement from Omar Fateh. A small group, a majority living outside Minneapolis, met privately to overturn the will of Minneapolis delegates who volunteered, organized, and participated in a months-long DFL process. Unacceptable."

What's inexcusable is the fact that the State DFL, not the Minneapolis DFL, said that vote-counting mistakes of the magnitude that've already been reported on happened. Mike Erlandson said that 25% of first ballot votes weren't counted. That's inexcusable.

For that matter, things don't look like they'll get better for the DFL anytime soon. is reporting "Fateh’s campaign and his supporters have claimed 'establishment Democrats, including many Frey supporters,' coordinated an effort to throw out his endorsement. Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is among those who condemned the vacating of the endorsement, saying, 'Fateh's campaign organized and won the endorsement. This decision will be a stain on our party for years to come.'"
