How much farther left can Democrats go before they're irrelevant?

David Marcus has written this analysis article to highlight the GOP{'s recent election success vs. the Democrats' post-2008 nosedive. 2008, of course, was the year then-Sen. Barack Obama won the White House. Since then, it's been downhill for the Democrats and not in a small way. Marcus opened his analysis piece by writing "On Tuesday, New York City’s Democrat voters chose as their nominee for mayor, Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani, who ran on a socialist platform that at times made Sen. Bernie Sanders look like an editor at National Review. Among the insane socialist programs Mamdani has floated are city owned grocery stores just like in Cuba, replacing police with social workers, and a freeze on rents, this goes along with his toxic stance that Israel has no right to exist as a Jewish state."

In the real world, each of these policies would be seen as proof that Democrats have a death wish. In New York and other blue states, it's proof that you're sufficiently progressive. It's why Democrats lost 4 congressional districts through the 2020 reappportionment. If Mambani is elected mayor, expect New York to experience another major outmigration of people and wealth.

Saying that Democrats are justified to be panicking is understatement. Blue-collar Democrats number less by-the-day. As Democrats move farther left, the number of Blue Dog Demoratas shrinks. A byproduct of that is President Trump building a 'common sense coalition.' With that comes the Democrats' need to fight everything Trump. With that, the vicious cycle continues.

Think this through and you'll realize why Democrats are panicking:

Think of that. Kamala Harris did better than Joe Biden by 3% in 58 counties across the nation. Just for a frame of reference, Minnesota has 87 counties while Iowa has 99 counties. 58 counties represents a little over half of Iowa's counties or exactly two-thirds of Minnesota's counties.

Think of this, too. In 2008, there were 1,000,000 mopre registered Democrats in Pennsylvania than registered Republicans. On Election Night 2024, there were 49,769 more registered Democrats than registered Republicans.

That's quite a change over 16 years, especially in a battleground state like Pennsylvania. That isn't the worst news for Democrats from Pennsylvania. The worst news for Democrats from Pennsylvania is that Kamala Harris didn't have a chance in a fracking state like Pennsylvania. Tim Walz didn't help her in Pennsylvania or Michigan. To my recollection, I don't think he was used in North Carolina, Georgia or Arizona.

If Democrats don't change their priorities before 2028, they'll get beaten like a drum in 2028. There's too many battlegrorund states that Democrats won't have a fighting chance in. This won't get pretty in 2028. In fact, things could get mighty ugly pretty fast for Democrats in 2028.
