Antony Blinken's rose-colored glasses, Iran edition
What was "unwise", Mr. Blinken, was loosening the sanctions on Iran because Iran was on the verge of an economic collapse. By loosening the sanctions, billions of dollars came rushing in. Suddenly, Iran was flush with cash to fund their terrorist proxies. What part of that sounds wise? After that, Blinken said "In 2018, President Trump tore up the agreement and replaced it with … nothing. In response, Iran accelerated its enrichment, quite likely reducing its breakout time to a matter of days or weeks. Mr. Trump, in essence, is now trying to put out a fire on which he poured gasoline."
Mr. Blinken, please don't lie to us like that. It's indisputed that Mr. Trump tore up the JCPOA. What is disputed is your statement that President Trump just let Iran go about building its nuclear program. That's like saying President Trump's sanctions didn't cause Iran's oil sales to drop from 2,000,000 barrels per day to 300,000 barrels per day. Further, it's ignoring the fact that Iran's cash reserves dropped off a cliff, thereby eliminating Iran's ability to build its nuclear program or fund its terrorist proxies. I consider those things to be far more signifcant than anything that the Biden administration applied to Iran.
Mr. Blinken's rose-colored glasses perspective of the world is frightening considering he was Biden's Secretary of State. Further, he's the senior Biden campaign staffer who put into motion the infamous '51 spies who lied' letter:
CBS's Catherine Herridge, along with Just the News's John Solomon and the NY Post's Miranda Devine were the investigative reporters that broke the story. Now, Blinken is spinning the story that the B-2 pilots' had little effect on Iran's nuclear program? Forgive me if I don';tbelieve that 12 precision-guided bombs dropped on Iran's Fordow facility had minimal impact on Fordow. Each of those GBU-57 bombs weighed 30,000 pounds.I'm more likely to trust Judas Iscariot more than I trust Mr. Blinken. Mr. Blinken helped loosen the Trump sanctions that had crippled Iran. That, in turn, helped Iran sell oil to China, which led to Iran financing Hamas's Oct. 7th massacre of Jewish people. Rather than writing factually-challenged op-eds, Mr. Blinken should be writing an apology letter to the America people and the nation of Israel for his bungling.
