DFL is fighting for illegal aliens, big spending
This article goes beyond the unraveling. FOX9 is reporting "Rep. Cedrick Frazier told reporters Saturday that democrats were working on a plan that would ensure undocumented individuals continue to receive healthcare. 'We’re talking to folks behind the scenes and we’re going to work things out, he said." Rumors are circulating that the DFL is thinking about splitting the bill into 2 bills. One bill would vote on MinnCare for adult illegal aliens. The other bill would force a vote on MinnCare for children.
Let's be clear. The DFL is fighting harder for people here illegally than they fought for middle class families' tax cuts. political parties that fight for illegal aliens but won't fight for tax cuts for suburban families have their priorities out of step with Minnesota.
DFL House Floor Leader Jamie Long told FOX 9 he anticipates the issue will be removed from the larger budget bill and voted on separately. The DFL already reneged on the K-12 bill. If the DFL can't keep it together on the HHS bill, then the DFL shouldn't be trusted on anything."Its going to be interesting to see if the DFL caucuses are able to pull together and actually stick to the deal they made or be de-railed by their far left flank," said GOP House Floor Leader Harry Niska.
The Compromise
I don't know if the DFL can get this compromise across the finish line. There's lots of DFL ideologues that oppose anything except the original bill. The DFL isn't just fighting for illegal aliens. They're fighting for outrageous spending, too. They don't just want to spend a lot. They want to dominate government. By keeping government big, the DFL keeps their caampain slush funds replenished.
