Catholics for lawbreaking, illegal immigration

It isn't surprising that Bishop Kevin Kenney lobbied the legislature this week. He was joined by the Catholic Conference in lobbying for breaking the law. That sounds like a typical Democrat, doesn't it?

In pushing for 'free' health care (I thought there was no such thing as a free lunch?) for illegal aliens, Bishop Kenney ignored Pope Leo XIV, who is for illegal immigration but who has also said that people need to obey the law. It's time the Catholic Church officially started obeying the entire Bible. It's difficult to picture a church selectively ignore parts of the Bible because it doesn't fit their political agenda.

Bishop Kenney said "I’m here because of my love for the immigrant brothers and sisters and (because) we need to continue to reach out and walk with them and help them. We need to be able to offer health care to anyone who is here, no matter how they got here, who let them in. Are we going to let them die on the streets? Are we gonna let them suffer? Or are we going to allow them — all of us — the basic health care that we need?"

That sounds nice but it's virtually impossible to implement. How do you implement a policy that requires a bottomless pit of $$$? Money might grow on treees but there's a ton of processing fees along the way, just like with government.

At one point in this press availability, Gov. Walz was listening to a question when he said matter-opf-factly "I can't he=ar you":

It isn't everyday that you hear protesters through the door at the governor's press availability. This is the first time I've heard it.
The Department of Human Services says that its most recent data show that as of April 24, 20,187 undocumented people had enrolled in MinnesotaCare. The program is fee-for-service, meaning the state only pays claims after services are administered.
Had Speaker Demuth and the GOP not driven a hard bargain for Minnesota's taxpayers, that 20,187 figure likely would've doubled. That would've meant a cost of $1,200,000k,000 per biennium. We can't afford that. Sen. Alice Mann criticized the Rasmusson amendmennt:
One of the Democrats who spoke against Rasmusson’s amendment on the Senate floor was Sen. Alice Mann, DFL-Edina, who said the amendment was “punishing people for being vulnerable, for being poor, for being dark, for being sick.” The senator also said it “is turning a basic human right into a luxury for political points.”
Predictably, Sen. Mann played the race card. This doesn't have anything to do with race. Despite that, the DFL can't resist playing the race card. That's hard-wired into the DFL's DNA. Seeing the DFL play the race card is as surprising as seeing the Catholic Church announce that it's pro-illegal immigration.

Finally, it was painful watching Speaker Demuthtake over when Gov. Walz stumbled over a policy question... He isn't a leader. Speaker Demuth definitely is.
