Pam Bondi goes to DC after Matt Gaetz drops out

After Matt Gaetz withdrew his name for consideration to be President-Elect Trump's Attorney General, it didn't take Trump long to name former Florida AG Pam Bondi to be his nominee to be U.S. AG. Trump's choice of Bondi has Democrats worrying because (GASP!) she's competent. How dare Trump pick someone that's competent.

The Washington Post's Marianne LeVine wrote "Bondi, 59, is a longtime Trump loyalist who served on the defense team during his first impeachment trial. Her selection to be the country’s top law enforcement official follows a presidential campaign in which Trump criticized the justice system as 'weaponized' against him and vowed retribution in a second term."

It's a pile of BS that Trump is seeking retribution for his getting dragged into court so frequently by partisan prosecutors. Those partisan prosecutors helped him get re-elected. They certainly helped him get the GOP nomination. When they realized what the Biden DOJ was doing to Trump, they turned on the Biden-Harris ticket, then the Harris-Walz ticket.

Predictably, President-Elect Trump took to Truth Social to say this:

For too long, the partisan Department of Justice has been weaponized against me and other Republicans - Not anymore. Pam will refocus the DOJ to its intended purpose of fighting Crime, and Making America Safe Again. I have known Pam for many years — She is smart and tough, and is an AMERICA FIRST Fighter, who will do a terrific job as Attorney General!
Watch the reaction of these MSNBC experts when they hear the news:

Omigod. She's competent and Trump picked her. I can picture those MSNBC experts thinking 'there ought to be a law against that.' That being said, these experts are right. Bondi has run a rather large AG office. Further, she's a top-flight prosecutor. Then there's this:
In 2010, Bondi became the first woman to be elected Florida attorney general and served two terms. She serves in leadership roles with the Center for Litigation and the Center for Law and Justice at the America First Policy Institute. Her selection for a Cabinet role reinforces the right-wing think tank’s status as a leading source of political appointees for Trump’s second term. The group helped lay the groundwork for a second Trump term but avoided the type of backlash levied against a similar effort, the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025.
Trump isn't a movement conservative. He's a transactional conservative. It isn't surprising that conservative organizations have influenced his thinking. Based on the fact that Trump handily won the popular vote, it's apparent that a majority of Americans agree with that approach.
