Kelly Morrison debates Tad Jude in only open House seat in Minnesota
The second question asked by the moderator was "How will you vote on the tax cuts that went into effect not so long ago?" After Tad Jude said that he'd vote for extending the tax cuts, Morrison jumped in and said "We need a tax policy that works for all Minnesotans. What we don't need are tax cuts for billionaires and hedge fund managers." While that's typical DFL talking points material, it isn't that bright.
What happens when tax hikes drive companies into China or other nations? How does that affect supply chains? Would a 28% corporate tax rate chase companies that are part of important supply chains pick up and move? After all, capital is mobile. If these companies' upper management have a fiduciary duty, why would we think that they'd give Minnesota a home state discount? The debate starts at the 27:15 mark of this video:
Morrison later insisted that she's a moderate DFLer who's worked with people on both sides of the aisle. That might be true but she's still a hardcore progressive. Check this out: Voting to cripple Minnesota's supply chains while voting to limit parents' rights isn't my idea of moderation. That's what I'd characterize as extremism. We don't need another DFL cookie-cutter economic illiterate in the legislature or in Congress. We need people who won't hesitate in fighting for productive policies that produce prosperity. In 2023, Kelly Morrison showed her true self by voting for every major spending increase and controversial bill that dramatically changed social policy. Minnesota doesn't need another extremist operating like a programmed machine. Lately, that's who the DFL seems to run.
Minnesotans deserve better than that. We've already gotten disgraced by Lying Tim Walz on the national stage. We don't need another DFL politician who increases spending by 40% in a single year, who raises taxes while Minnesota has its biggest projected surplus ($19,000,000,000). Sen. Morrison spent like a drunken sailor while doing whatever the DFL told her to do. That isn't a moderate. That's an extremist.
