Joe Biden's apostrophe catastrophe
When Joe Biden decides to step in it, he really steps in it. While Kamala Harris was delivering the most divisive unity speech in history, Joe Biden was on a Zoom call. He didn't know it at the time but he was about to make Kamala Harris's life a living hell. During a Voto Latino get out-the-vote call, Biden said "And just the other day, a speaker at his rally called Puerto Rico 'a floating island of garbage.' Well, let me tell you something … I don’t know the Puerto Rican that I know… or Puerto Rico where I’m – in my home state of Delaware – they’re good, decent, honorable people. The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters."
KJP and other Biden surrogates have done their best to put out this catastrophe. Thus far, their efforts have led to a widening catastrophe. For instance, Brett Favre joined Donald Trump at a Trump-Vance rally in Green Bay. At the rally, Favre said "I can assure you, we’re not garbage. How dare he say that! Looking out, I see police officers, teachers, nurses, grandparents, students. I see everyday Americans that make this country great. It’s time to bench Kamala and put in the star quarterback." It's time to finish off the Harris-Walz ticket. Now to the words that started this closing catastrophe:
At first, I thought that Biden had said The only garbage I see floating out there are his supporters." That isn't what he said. Biden said "The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters." Did Biden mean supporter's -- singular posessive? Did he mean supporters' -- plural posessive? Or did he mean are his supporters?" That's just plural. The only version that makes sense is the pural version. Anything with the apostrophe included doesn't make sense. Even if you restructure the entire sentence, it doesn't make sense.Based on this speech, Brett Favre could have a nice political career if he wanted it:
It's time for the American people to fire Kamala Harris. She's a back-up QB at best. It's time for voters to take out the presidential garbage. Finally, it's time for Biden, KJP and the WH communications shop to get some English lessons.
