Merrick Garland appoints special counsel for Hunter Biden, skeptic's edition
To be fair, Ed later wrote that this felt more like a CYA move than anything else, something that I totally agree with. According to this article, "U.S. Attorney David Weiss will be appointed special counsel in the ongoing probe of the president's son Hunter Biden, Attorney General Merrick Garland announced Friday."
The article continues, saying "Weiss will be responsible for the 'ongoing investigation' of President Joe Biden's son 'as well as for any other matters that arose or may arise from that investigation,' the Justice Department said in a statement. Weiss, who was already overseeing the Hunter Biden probe and is based in Delaware, asked to be appointed special counsel on Tuesday and Garland agreed it was 'in the public interest' to do so, the attorney general said." What a pile of BS.
Weiss should be terminated immediately as special counsel. He's obviously compromised. If Weiss was dedicated to finding out the truth no matter what the damage is to Joe Biden, Weiss wouldn't have let the 2 biggest felony tax evasion charges lapse due to them running past the statute of limitations. Further, Weiss's assistant U.S. Attorney wouldn't have called Hunter's defense attorneys when IRS whistleblowers wanted to search Hunter's storage unit in northern Virginia.
This, in my opinion, necessitates an impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden. Weiss can't be trusted. It shouldn't have taken 5+ years to charge Hunter with felony gun charges. That should've taken a week, not 5+ years. Further, Hunter should've been charged with multiple counts of violating FARA, the Foreign Agents Registration Act years ago. There's no excuse for Weiss to have not charged Hunter already.
The minute the House returns to DC, they should vote to authorize an impeachment inquiry. The House Oversight Committee has unearthed more criminal or unethical information on the Bidens in 9 months than Weiss found in 5+ years. That's shameful. Merrick Garland's announcement is shameful, too:
Weiss wrote 3 different letters to Jim Jordan, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, on what authorities he had for prosecuting Hunter's tax evasion felony charges. As such, he should be removed from consideration to be a special counsel. Let's remember that Weiss was widely criticized for negotiating Hunter's "sweetheart plea deal." There's nothing worthwhile about Weiss being special counsel. This should be grounds for an impeachment inquiry into Merrick Garland, too.
