Friday night's KSTP debate winners; DFL is tonight's biggest losers
Tom Hauser's first interview was with Ron Schutz. What struck me is the contrast between Keith Ellison's defensive bragging, most often while defending his inaction against preventing or prosecuting fraud. In many of these instances, Ellison was caught by Bill Glahn to not told the whole truth. In Schutz's interview, he often displayed a commannd of the law and a passion for ethics. AG Ellison's name will never be associated with the phrase "passion for ethics." AG Ellison won't ever be associated with the term "command of the law," either.
Hauser then asked about how Schutz would deal with potential financial conflicts of interests. Again, Schutz gave a thorough, thoughtful briefing on what's already in-place. He spoke to how most of his stocks are already in a blind trust that's managed for him. Next up to be interviewed was Michele Tafoya:
She broke with President Trump multiple times. That doesn't mean that Lt. Gov. Flanagan or her surrogates will stop using the 'Trump rubber stamp' line. It just means that most people will see it as discredited. Flanagan isn't as politically talented as Gov. Walz. That's why I see her being the candidate most likely to lose votes to ticket-splitting.The final interview Hauser conducted was with Lisa Demuth:
Hauser started on the topic of education. Demuth talked about putting more funding into classrooms and eliminating mandates. Demuth then talked about how many schools are struggling dealing with mandates put on by the DFL. She then advocated for more local control before blasting Klobuchar as not being different from Walz, implying that Klobuchar would sign off on mandates like Walz did.Demuth's attacking of Klobuchar for being the personification of the status quo makes Speaker Demuth the biggest winner of the night. The biggest loser of the night is the DFL. The DFL has insisted that the GOP candidates are rubber stamps. Last night, the DFL had the opportunity to finish off the GOP. Instead, the hid from the cameras like they were afraid to go one-on-one with the GOP. That makes the DFL a bunch of chicken sh--s. Minnesota needs leaders, not cowards.
