Amy Klobuchar's growing credibility deficit
Just last year, Klobuchar voted to shut the government down on Sept. 30,2025 by voting against a clean CR, which would have kept spending at FY2025 levels. The FY2025 budget was the final Biden budget. Saying that she wouldn't raise taxes is like an arsonist promising not to light the match that's in his hand. After shutting down the government, she voted repeatedly to KEEP GOVERNMENT CLOSED more than 2 dozen times in the next 6 months. She won't keep government open but she won't raise taxes either? How stupid does she think we are?
She also opened the door to adjusting the Paid Leave program, saying it should be “fiscally responsible,” expressed a desire to end the moratorium on new nuclear power plants, and called for an audit of state government, an issue she has campaigned on for months. If you're faced with picking a fake conservative and a legitimate conservative, why not pick the legitimate conservative? Further, why shouldn't voters think that Klobuchar's just lying? Klobuchar has pushed for replacing money stolen by fraudsters with new federal spending. Does that sound like something that a conservative would do? Demuth took some not-so-veiled shots at Klobuchar, too:Klobuchar also said her first directive as governor would be that "no unfunded mandates" are placed on local governments by state government. The GOP has repeatedly criticized unfunded mandates that were passed by the DFL trifecta in 2023.
Demuth even made a not-so-veiled reference to allegations Klobuchar threw office supplies in the direction of staffers while frustrated. Referencing this, Demuth said, "You will never see me disrespect my employees" and "I will not be throwing office supplies." Klobuchar ignored those comments. This was just the warm-up. Fox9 will host the only televised statewide gubernatorial debate Wednesday night. THAT'S the main event. It's worth noting that debate won't happen until early voting is half-finished.
Sen. Klobuchar is a coward towards debates. Further, she's totally risk-averse. She's putting herself ahead of the people of Minnesota. Minnesotans have a right to cast a well-informed vote. By waiting this long before debating, Sen. Klobuchar is saying that she has a veto on that right.
