When Peggy Flanagan quit fighting for unions

It's sickening each year to hear that the DFL supports the men and women who organized labor unions. Each year, we're forced to listen to them talk about things they did decades ago. This is an instance of what've you done for me lately? This year, Peggy Flanagan posted this tweet, which says "Happy Labor Day, Minnesota! Today, we reflect on the ordinary people who organized to fight for their families and fellow workers. We will keep fighting alongside our brothers and sisters in labor unions to make Minnesota the best place to live, work, and raise a family."

That's what a robotweet that doesn't mean a thing says. Who cares if the DFL fights with you for the right to organize if the DFL governor then signs an executive order prohibiting new mining? The message is clear. You're allowed to organize as long as you don't complain when we shut down union jobs on the Iron Range.

Who cares about organizing if there aren't any jobs. This is classic 'what have you done for me lately?' Nationwide, Democrats have given workers the middle finger. Joe Biden mandated EVs. Those vehicles are mostly made in southern right-to-work states. That doesn't reflect well on the DFL, aka the Democrat-Farmer-Labor Party. Twenty years ago, the DFL owned the Iron Range politically. This KSTP news segment showed Oberstar leading Chip Cravaack by a single point:

now, the GOP owns the DFL on the Range. The Mesabi Range stretches across cities like Hibbing, Eveleth, Buhl, Chisholm, Coleraine, Grand Rapids, Virginis, Cook and Ely. I'm not certain but I think all but 4-5 House and Senate seats are Democrat in Minnesota's Eighth Congressional District. The DFL Metrocrats have built a strong base of public employee unions but they hate the industrial mining unions.

Lt. Gov. Flanagan is part of the mining-hating Metrocrats. That divide is as deep and hateful as any divide within the DFL. This isn't likely to heal anytime soon.
