Tom Homan: DHS is investigating Ilhan Omar over potential immigration fraud

Border Czar Tom Homan confirmed that the Department of Homeland Security is investigating allegations that Rep. Ilhan Omar committed immigration fraud by marrying her brother. Homan is quoted as saying "I’m confirming that [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] is, yeah, look, I said months ago that it’s something that has been reported and needs to be looked at. I’m not going to comment on ongoing criminal investigations. I know things are going on, but I can’t give specifics of what’s happening. But we’ll see. No one is above the law. We will let HSI, Homeland Security Investigations, continue the investigation."

Homan appeared Sunday morning on Fox News Channel's ASunday Briefing. He was interviewed by Jacqui Heinrich, one of FNC's senior White House correspondents. Here's the tweet Heinrich posted about the potential investigation:

According to this government website, "To begin the denaturalization process, DHS's USCIS recommends to the DOJ that it institute civil revocation or criminal prosecution proceedings against an identified individual. For civil revocation, a DOJ attorney files a complaint with an affidavit showing good cause in the judicial district where the naturalized citizen lives. The DOJ attorney can initiate these proceedings under the civil or criminal denaturalization statutes, depending on the facts presented in each case. Most cases are litigated as civil proceedings, where there is no statute of limitations or right to a court-appointed attorney, and the burden of proof is "clear, convincing, and unequivocal evidence which does not leave the issue in doubt." For criminal proceedings brought under 18 U.S.C. § 1425, there is generally a statute of limitations of 10 years, the burden of proof is beyond a reasonable doubt, and the individual has a right to counsel."

There's definitely partisan politics involved in this interview. That doesn't mean that this isn't substantive. Both things might be true. This isn't about racism or being Islamophobic. It's about enforcing the law. Period.

Anyone that thinks that Tim Walz, Minnesota's DFL governor, doesn't care about preventing crime or fraud hasn't read this article . Alpha News is reporting that "The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) has confirmed that Dylan Adams, the fiscal policy analyst caught on video vandalizing Teslas in Minneapolis, is still employed by the state — meaning Minnesota taxpayers are footing the bill for his salary. In response to Alpha News inquiries, a DHS spokesperson said: "Dylan Adams is a current employee." Apparently, the Walz administration doesn't care that it's employing a vandal in its Department of Human Services.
