The DFL's latest problem: Ellison vs. Schutz, Jensen vs. Filipovich, Cash on Hand edition

As if the DFL didn't have enough difficulties already, ther DFL just added another. According to the latest Cash on Hand (CoH) report, the DFL is experiencing fundraising/CoH difficulties. The article reports that "Republican candidates for Minnesota attorney general and state auditor lead their Democrat opponents in campaign cash on hand with just weeks to go before the November election. According to newly-filed campaign finance reports, Republican attorney general nominee Ron Schutz had $1.02 million in cash on hand as of Sept. 15. In total, Schutz began this year with $230,365, raised $1.08 million since January, and has spent $297,792 this year."

Meanwhile:

Meanwhile, DFL Attorney General Keith Ellison, who is seeking a third term, had $634,505 in cash on hand as of Sept. 15. In total, Ellison began 2026 with $274,601, raised nearly $1.3 million during 2026, and has spent $940,089 this year.

In the race for Minnesota state auditor, Republican nominee Scott Jensen had $169,231 in cash on hand as of Sept. 15. Jensen, whose campaign began in February of this year, has raised $280,830 since then and spent $111,028.

Jensen’s DFL opponent, Zack Filipovich, had just $67,429 in cash on hand as of Sept. 15. He began the year with nearly $4,599, raised $147,998, and has spent $85,168.

Jensen and Schutz both lead their races, too, according to the latest polling. This isn't a situation that the DFL or MNGOP is used to. Democrats are used to leading the statewide races, especially at this point. Further, the DFL is used to being exceptionally well-funded. Kurt Schlichter interviewed Ron Schutz while guest-hosting for Hugh Hewitt:

What a stunning interview! Keith Ellison's problem, in addition to trailing in Cash on Hand and in the polling, is a facts problem. AG Ellison intervened in the Feeding Our Future scandal on th fraudsters' behalf. Further, AG Ellison saying that 'it's amazing what happens when the AG writes a letter.' That's admitting that you're helping fraudsters.

Apparently, Keith Ellison doesn't take his job as Minnesota's chief awforcement official seriously. If he won't take that responsibility seriously, then it's time to fire him.

Proof that Tim Walz doesn't care about fraud or other crime

Anyone that thinks that Tim Walz, Minnesota's DFL governor, doesn't care about preventing crime or fraud hasn't read this article . Alpha News is reporting that "The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) has confirmed that Dylan Adams, the fiscal policy analyst caught on video vandalizing Teslas in Minneapolis, is still employed by the state — meaning Minnesota taxpayers are footing the bill for his salary. In response to Alpha News inquiries, a DHS spokesperson said: "Dylan Adams is a current employee." Apparently, the Walz administration doesn't care that it's employing a vandal in its Department of Human Services. As for whether Adams "has faced consequences for racking up more than $21,000 in damage during work hours , the agency offered little transparency.
