Minnesota educators are FAILING our students

The verdict is in. Minnesota's public schools are failing Minnesota's students on one of this great nation's worst nightmares. cTom Emmer's tweet highlighted the problem. He referenced this Lindsey Brown tweet about the fact that "9/11 is no longer mentioned in Minnesota’s social studies standards."

Reporter Pilar Pedraza reported that parents are worried about Minnesota's Social Studies Standards, reporting "When state edudcators and parents got together to rewrite the state's social studies standards, they made a couple of major changes. They moved from referencing specific events like 9/11, the Civil War, the Cuban Missile Crisis to focusing on broad strokes, eras and themes. Educators say that the goal is to push teachers to provide more context and to get students to ask more of their own questions.

I'm questioning whether that's the goal. It sounds more like an attempt to create storylines rather than teaching facts.

That's verified in the reporting when it's reported that "it's a move away from memorizing those names, dates and places that made kids hate social studies over the years." That's a diplomatic way of saying that they won't teach students about the biggest events in U.S. history. Democrats frequently accuse Republicans of attempting to erase history. In this instance, we have verifiable proof that Democrats are attempting to create storylines of history rather than teaching history. In this news segment, we're given a false choice:

The segment presents the choice between teaching "names, dates and faces" or making an emotional connection. While it's difficult to make 9-11 personal to a student in Minnesota, it's far from impossible. Why not teach these students what the terrorists were attempting to do? Why not teach students that the terrorists trained in camps in Afghanistan AND U.S. flight schools? They had specific targets. What went into the choosing of those targets? President Bush gave us his informed opinion in an address from the Oval Office that night:

President Bush said that "terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shattered steel but they can't shatter the steel of American resolve." The reason we are an exceptional nation and a resilient nation is because we have God-given liberties that governments and/or terrorists can't take away. These rights come from "Nature's God," not from governments. In most of Europe, the people are taught that their rights come from government, not Almighty God.

Why aren't we teaching students that nations like Afghanistan and Iran think that women are considered chattel, not people. It's cheating our students when we don't teach the differences between our civilization and their hatred of our civilization. It's time to stop cheating our students.

Proof that Tim Walz doesn't care about fraud or other crime

Anyone that thinks that Tim Walz, Minnesota's DFL governor, doesn't care about preventing crime or fraud hasn't read this article . Alpha News is reporting that "The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) has confirmed that Dylan Adams, the fiscal policy analyst caught on video vandalizing Teslas in Minneapolis, is still employed by the state — meaning Minnesota taxpayers are footing the bill for his salary. In response to Alpha News inquiries, a DHS spokesperson said: "Dylan Adams is a current employee." Apparently, the Walz administration doesn't care that it's employing a vandal in its Department of Human Services. As for whether Adams "has faced consequences for racking up more than $21,000 in damage during work hours , the agency offered little transparency.
