Amy Klobuchar vs. Lisa Demuth, fundraising edition

Esme Murphy, who has frequemtly interviewed Sen. Klobuchar, wrote this WCCO article, reporting "Klobuchar is way ahead in fundraising with $3.44 million cash on hand to Demuth's $544,000, but Demuth has closed some of the gap with the help of outside money. Records show an outside Super PAC called Restore Sanity has given $2.8 million from at least 26 separate donations to support Demuth's campaign, most of it going to advertising." First, let's straighten out this intentionaly provocative verbiage. If the money was contributed according to U.S. law, then it isn't "outside money." That's why we're called the UNITED STATES! Let's eliminate such language. We're all allowed to participate. Finally, it's time to eliminate this type of slanted coverage.

What makes MY JOB fun is that Sen. Klobuchar thinks that a different set of rules apply to her than the rules that apply to Speaker Demuth. For instance, Sen. Klobuchar apparently thinks that it;s fine to accept contributions from Reid Hoffman:

A billionaire megadonor with ties to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein gave $1 million to a Democratic group supporting DFL U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s campaign for governor. According to campaign finance reports, the Democratic Governors Association (DGA) received a $1 million donation from Reid Hoffman in March of this year.During Klobuchar’s failed 2020 presidential campaign, she received a maximum $2,800 donation from Hoffman. A Forbes report from 2019 showed Klobuchar received donations from 21 billionaires or their spouses during her White House bid.

Campaign contributions from billionaires have recently become a big topic in Minnesota’s race for governor. In recent weeks, GOP gubernatorial nominee Lisa Demuth has been repeatedly criticized for benefiting from donations made by Wisconsin billionaire Richard Uihlein.

Sen. Klobuchar has a MAJOR sincerity deficit. The rules that Sen. Klobuchar applies to others aren't applied to Sen. Klobuchar. If she wasn't protected to this extent by the Twin Cities media, she'd be seen as a mediocre senator who didn't belong as a presidential candidate.

Lisa Demuth has accepted PAC and SuperPAC donations. So what? It's protected by the First Amendment. This is Esme Murphy at work with her chief client:

Proof that Tim Walz doesn't care about fraud or other crime

Anyone that thinks that Tim Walz, Minnesota's DFL governor, doesn't care about preventing crime or fraud hasn't read this article . Alpha News is reporting that "The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) has confirmed that Dylan Adams, the fiscal policy analyst caught on video vandalizing Teslas in Minneapolis, is still employed by the state — meaning Minnesota taxpayers are footing the bill for his salary. In response to Alpha News inquiries, a DHS spokesperson said: "Dylan Adams is a current employee." Apparently, the Walz administration doesn't care that it's employing a vandal in its Department of Human Services. As for whether Adams "has faced consequences for racking up more than $21,000 in damage during work hours , the agency offered little transparency.
