Is this KSTP's version of a racist smear job?
Next is the story's lede. That's where it says "Nicholson, who was never arrested or charged in connection with the insurrection, said he left “when things turned violent.” TRANSLATION: Nicholson supported President Trump, watched President Trump's speech from the Ellipse, then left when things started getting rowdy.
It's one thing to question whether Nicholson did anything illegal. Apparently, he didn't, which is why he wasn't charged.
If Nicholson didn't do anything wrong, KSTP has an obligation to drop the story before publishing it. That's the type of trash I'd expect from DFL Chairman Richard Carlbom. Predictably, Carlbom tried turning this molehill into a mountain by saying "No one who embraces the January 6 rioters belongs anywhere near the governor’s office. Any Republican candidate that refuses to disavow Brian Nicholson’s participation in the January 6 insurrection is wholly unfit to be governor."
I'd love hearing either Carlbom or KSTP explain how you hold a gun-free insurrection. No J6 defendants were charged with gun crimes. Apparently, the DFL doesn't think that words have meanings. The DFL definitely doesn't think that integrity matters. Mr. Carlbom's daily Twitter temper tantrums show he isn't interested in integrity.
In Hauser's own words, Nicholson wasn't charged with anything for what he did on Jan. 6th;
So what's the big deal? That he supported President Trump? This is tabloid journalism, in my estimation. In asegment that lasts 2:31, it wasn't mentioned that Nicholson wasn't charged with anything about Jan. 6 until the final sentence of the segment. That's the personification of a hit piece. While I don't think that Hauser or KSTP are racists, their publishing standards helped them publish a hit piece on Kendall Qualls, who is a person of color.
