DFL candidates attempt to buy Somali votes in St. Cloud
According to the Alpha News article, "Brodeen urged residents to consider the incident when deciding whom to support at the ballot box, though he did not identify any specific candidates. However, the banner in the Rocks and Cows video indicated that the event was also sponsored by Democrat Minnesota House candidates Zachary Dorholt and Abdi Daisane, congressional candidate Doug Chapin and U.S. Senate candidate Peggy Flanagan." In St. Cloud, Lt. Gov. Flanagan isn't that popular. That's because she's part of a dark point in Minnesota's history:
"I wish the removal had been different, but I am not sad that it’s gone. Columbus’ legacy was setting in motion generations of violence, rape and genocide against indigenous people who were already here when he arrived." Flanagan said that placing a statue at the capitol confers an honor to their legacy.Saying that taking down a statue of Columbus "isn't an erasure of history" is pure bigotry. If not for Columbus, how did all these Europeans get here, Lt. Gov. Flanagan? It's part of U.S. history. If you want to debate whether it's a net negative or net positive, I'm open to that. That's teaching THE ENTIRE U.S. HISTORY! I won't be lectured by Lt. Gov. Flanagan on erasing U.S. history, especially after this statement."There is no honor in the legacy of Christopher Columbus," she said. "To remove a statue or choose not to place one there in the first place is not an erasure of history but a reckoning with it."
Zach Dorholt's bigotry
According to the Alpha News article, "However, the banner in the Rocks and Cows video indicated that the event was also sponsored by Democrat Minnesota House candidates Zachary Dorholt and Abdi Daisane, congressional candidate Doug Chapin, and U.S. Senate candidate Peggy Flanagan." He, along with the other human debris, co-sponsored the Somali Independence Day Event. That means he needs to be held accountable for flying the U.S. flag upside-down. How disrespectful!
Lt. Gov. Flanagan complains frequently abour European culture infecting the Indians' culture. Why, then, is she interested in becoming part of the white man's government? Is Mr. Dorholt that comfortable with smearing the state and nation where lives and raises his family? HINT: if these things aren't minor to you, follow this link to donate to Sue Ek's campaign.
