The end of war? I'll believe it when I have proof
Believing that Iran has ceased their war with the U.S. and Israel fits into the category of 'too good to be true.' According to this statement from Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, "Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED.Both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon. The official signing ceremony will be on Friday, 19 June in Switzerland."
The signing date is next Friday. I'm betting the ceasefire won't last that long. An immediate and permanent termination of military operations, including in Lebanon"? Somebody must've gotten their hands on Hunter's stash to buy that.
Ed Morrrissey's article title is most apt: "Iran, Trump Announce Deal … For Now Predictably, President Trump bragged about the accomplishment:
This Great Deal will bring Peace and Security to the whole Region. Many presidents have tried to make Peace with Iran, and all have failed before me. The Leaders of the Region have, for the first time, found a President who can help them achieve real Peace. With the opening of the Strait upon the signing of the Deal on Friday, for purposes of mine removal, oil will flow on both ends again for the Region, and the World! President DONALD J. TRUMPPresident Trump is gloating now but how sturdy is this agreement? Talking to a longtime reader of my blog, we both agree that it isn't sturdy. From Ed's article:
It seems that the IRGC chose to let the attack on Beirut slide, despite repeatedly declaring it a red line over the last couple of weeks. That won’t last forever, though, so if Hezbollah keeps firing at Israel, this deal won’t last long.
