Ro Khanna vs. Maria Bartiromo, SAVE America Act edition

Based on Ben Smith's article, I'd say it'd be kind to say that Rep. Ro Khanna, (D-CA), got his butt kicked by Maria Bartiromo when they debated the SAVE America Act. First, Khanna argued "I don’t think people should have to go get their birth certificates and go to the registrar. We have a system that allows people to vote if they’re citizens. And by the way, if you’re not a citizen and you vote, you should have enormous penalties, consequences. I'm for making sure that we criminally prosecute people who are voting illegally."

FIRST REBUTTAL: How do determine who's a citizen. Here in St. Cloud, MN, lots of Somalis vote legally and speak broken English at best! Giving municipalities the tools is the only way make these vital determinations. Further, when EVERYONE has to produce their birth certificate, charges of racism are meaningless.

Bartiromo wasted little time blasting Khanna. She said "That’s the law. You can't vote if you're not an American citizen. Yes, get your birth certificate. Yes, that's exactly right. I wanted a copy of my birth certificate. I went online, I got the birth certificate. It took a week, no problem." This talking point is worthless. It isn't about ease or difficulty. To Democrats, it's about getting away with fraud.

To those that say there isn't widespread fraud, I'd highlight Mary Franson's race 10 years ago. Rep. Franson won by a single vote. There doesn't need to be widespread fraud. Targeted fraud works just fine for midterm elections. In 2008, Norm Coleman eventually lost by 312 votes when 2,900,000+ votes were cast. That's less than a rounding error.

Rep. Khanna foolishly asked if we wanted married women to get their birth certificates to vote. Here's that exchange:

Bartiromo went online and got her birth certificate in a week. I'm supposed to think that's stressful? I don't think so. Check this interview out:

Rep. Ro Khanna is often charaterized as a moderate. He's nothing of the sort.
