DFL endorses Amy Klobuchar for governor

Actually, that headline is misleading. In endorsing Sen. Klobuchar for the DFL choice for governor, the DFL endorsed Sen. Klobuchar to be their gubernatorial figurehead. By that, I DON'T MEAN a Bidenesque figurehead. When Sen. Klobuchar picked Ben Schierer as her Lt. Gov. running mate, she picked him as the person who will handle day-to-day duties for the first budget year. Sen. Klobuchar's literally been in Washington, DC for the past 20 years. Democrats think of her as politically gifted and definitely risk-averse. The Democrats' joke about Sen. Klobuchar is that she's invisible 5 out-of-the 6 years of her term but that she's everywhere when it's time for re-election.

The statement issued by the DFL says "Senator Klobuchar has a proven track record of bringing Minnesotans together to deliver on the issues that matter most to them. It is no surprise to see our convention delegates come together to stand alongside her as she lays out her vision for the future of our state."

What's actually the truth is that she's voted for bills that've life more expensive for Minnesotans. The 2 best examples of this are her votes for Obamacare and for the American Rescue Plan. Obamacare is so expensive that they had to enact a health insurance company subsidy to artificially lower premium prices. That isn't the definition of affordability. It's the personification of recklessness (foolishness?).

Klobuchar ignored the advice of Steve Rattner, Obama's chief economist, and Larry Summers, Obama's Treasury Secretary. They both said the economy was growing and that enacting the American Rescue Plan would cause inflation to skyrocket. She voted for it anyway. The result was inflation hitting 9.1% in June of 2022.

It's outright chutzpah to run on the subject of affordability after you caused inflation to skyrocket. It isn't a stretch to say Summers was right:

As for Mayor Schierer, he's there toguide Sen. Klobuchar. He understands property taxes. She doesn't. He understands economics from a front-row seat. Sen. Klobuchar knows things from a 30,000 foot level. The truth is that Sen. Klobuchar is stylistically different from Tim Walz. Substantively, though, they're 2 peas in a pod.

Finally, Mayor Schreier is from the activist wing of the DFL. According to DSA thinking, she's too normal. Stylistically, Sen. Klobuchar is normal. Agenda-wise, she's as wierd as anyone.
