Is Tom Homan a miracle-worker, Minneapolis edition?

Is Tom Homan a miracle-worker? When he arrived in Minnesota Monday night, things were spinning out of control for ICE and US Border Patrol, especially after the shooting death of Alex Pretti. Homan was sent to Minnesota with instructions to calm things down and to restore sanity to a chaotic state governed by lunatics like Tim Walz, Keith Elliso and Jacob Frey. Though I'm still skeptical about whether Homan's hard work will succeed, it isn't hyperbole to say that Homan's done heroic work in less than a week. According to this article, "Tom Homan said Minnesota state leaders acknowledged the legitimacy of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and agreed county jails are permitted to notify ICE when criminal offenders are being released, following meetings this week with Gov. Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, and local law enforcement officials."

That alone is worthy of miracle status. Like I said, I'm still skeptical because Mssrs. Walz, Frey and Ellison aren't trustworthy. To modify an old Reagan saying, I'm still taking a 'Don't trust but verify' position. When I see changes in Walz's and Frey's actions, then I'll consider beliving it'll work. "One thing we all agreed on," Homan said in his first press conference since arriving in Minnesota on Monday, "is that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is a legitimate law enforcement agency that has a duty to enforce the laws enacted by Congress."

Homan said the meetings resulted in what he described as progress on public safety, even though disagreements remain. "We didn’t agree on everything," he said. "I didn’t expect to agree on everything."

This is a pivotal moment for Minnesota. The DFL is always telling people that they're good at bringing people together, that they're willing to compromise. Thanks to Tom Homan's negotiations, the DFL is now in a position to put up or shut up.
