Is Minneapolis involved in a spiritual fight?
This morning, an ICE agent allegedly shot and killed a person. Though details are sketchy, one thing remains constant. Gov. Tim Walz, DNC Chair Ken Martin and Sen. Tina Smith are insisting that President Trump pull all ICE agents out of Minnesota and Minneapolis. That won't happen as that'd be the highest profile heckler's veto in history. Instead of urging restraint, Tim Walz is reaching for the can of white gas. He is quoted as saying "Minnesota has had it. This is sickening. The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now."
TRANSLATION: We want the federal government to let us return to the peaceful days of Minneapolis being a crime-riddled sanctuary city.
Actually, now is the time for Christians to remind themselves how insignificant they are. This isn't a time to shift into 'Superman mode.' It's time for us to shift into spiritual warfare mode:
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—AS much as we're thinking how to fight this fight, the truth is that, to use a constitutional term, a separation of powers issue. This fight belongs to the LORD. Tim Walz likely doesn't notice that he's fighting a spiritual fight. He hasn't noticed that he isn't obeying this nation's laws. Gov. Walz hasn't noticed that not obeying this nation's laws have negative consequences.
It's time for Gov. Walz to stop doing what's politically smart and to start doing what's right. This can't be ignored:
The governor and local leaders’ rhetoric has empowered criminals and put federal law enforcement’s lives at risk. It’s dangerous and has made the situation in Minneapolis much worse. Unlike my Democrat colleagues, I’m going to let law enforcement conduct their investigation and… https://t.co/UCLvRXhT4a
