Each week, I watch Almanac and @Issue so you don't have to (said with more than a little sarcasm.) This week, one of the opening guests on Almanac was U of M Professor Larry Jacobs. Here's that interview: I still don't know what Jacobs meant when he said "this is the speech he usually gives to the base of his party." Most of President Trump's rally speeches are long, rambling speeches that usually are stream-of-consciousness speeches. I'm betting that Prof. Jacobs doesn't watch many of President Trump's speeches. President Trump's speech, which I watched live from beginning-to-end, was short, to-the-point and filled wtih statistics to bolster his arguments: This transcript will bear that out. For instance, his claim that prices are coming down fast was strengthened when he said "The price of a Thanksgiving turkey was down 33% compared to the Biden last year." Democrats' only argument is that the people aren't feeling like it's fixed. Again, President Trump answered, saying "Let's look at the facts. Under the Biden administration, car prices rose 22%, and in many states 30% or more. Gasoline rose 30 to 50%. Hotel rates rose 37%. Airfares rose 31%. Now under our leadership, they're all coming down and coming down fast. The price of a gallon of gas at the pump has dropped into the $2.50 a gallon or lower range. That'll change buying power immediately.
the dramatic gas price drop alone is changing buying power. Hint to Prof. Jacobs: just because Democrats insist that prices are still going up doesn't mean they're still going up. It's fair to say that Prof. Jacobs was right in saying this was a partisan speech. Democrats, led by Sen. Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries, have ben lying to the American people by saying that prices are rising. Wages are rising. Prices aren't.
It's predictable that this would be a partisan speech after Sen. Schumer lied so frequently prior to the speech. It's ironic that the CPI inflation report dropped the morning of the speech. According to the CPI, prices rose but by less than expected. Projected CPI was 3.0 but actual CPI was 2.7. Further, according to the Labor Department, wages are rising faster than prices, which increases buying power, too. The job isn't finished but things are heading in the right direction.
Finally, this might've been the best speech President Trump has delivered. It was focused, powerful and hard-hitting. I wish sll his speeches were like this.
A loyal reader of this blog just sent me a screenshot touting Kendall Qualls. The screenshot is short on truth. What it lacks in truth, it makes up for in fiction. Here's Kendall's fiction: Kendall Qualls should be ashamed for spewing this BS. First, Qualls knows better than this. Jeff Johnson and Lisa Demuth have both confirmed that they're abiding by the Convention's endorsement. This appears to be Qualls attempting to be something he isn't. While I'm not disputing whether Mr. Qualls will abide by the endorsement, I'm calling BS that he's THE ONLY GOP CANDIDATE who will abide by the endorsement. This brings into question whether Mr. Qualls is willing to say anything to win. We don't need another candidate who'll put together fiction to win. We've had too many candidates who fit that description throughout the years. Next, we need people who fit J.C. Watts' description of character. Watts said that "the definition of character is d...
Anyone that thinks that Tim Walz, Minnesota's DFL governor, doesn't care about preventing crime or fraud hasn't read this article . Alpha News is reporting that "The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) has confirmed that Dylan Adams, the fiscal policy analyst caught on video vandalizing Teslas in Minneapolis, is still employed by the state — meaning Minnesota taxpayers are footing the bill for his salary. In response to Alpha News inquiries, a DHS spokesperson said: "Dylan Adams is a current employee." Apparently, the Walz administration doesn't care that it's employing a vandal in its Department of Human Services. As for whether Adams "has faced consequences for racking up more than $21,000 in damage during work hours , the agency offered little transparency. 'No public data exists with respect to disciplinary action,' the spokesperson said." This reminds me of the old phrase I coined, which says 'It's impossible to...
We are heartbroken beyond words by the tragic and senseless loss of our beloved daughter, Hallie Marie. Hallie was a bright light in our lives and in the lives of so many others. She was kind, compassionate, and full of promise. The pain of losing her in this way is something no family should ever have to endure, and we are still struggling to comprehend this unimaginable reality. We want to express our deepest gratitude to our family, friends, and even strangers for the overwhelming outpouring of love, prayers, and support. Your messages, tributes, and acts of kindness have brought us comfort and your prayers are sustaining us as we navigate this difficult journey. We are also thankful to law enforcement for their ongoing efforts. As we grieve and begin the difficult process of laying our daughter to rest, we respectfully ask for privacy from the media during this incredibly painful time. In the midst of this tragedy, we also want to acknowledge the importance of mental health suppor...
