Donald Trump delivered Larry Kudlow's dream speech
Last night, President Trump delivered one of the best speeches of his presidency. It was a speech that's likely got Larry Kudlow smiling ear-to-ear. In Kudlow's pre-speech riff yesterday, Kudlow implored President Trump to "look forward more than backward." Then Kudlow explained what he wanted to see by saying "What do I mean by that? He has a fabulous list of achievements in his first year. Most notably, closing the border and stopping illegal immigration. Passage of the one big, beautiful bill, with its pro-growth supply side tax cuts, deregulation, drill, baby, drill, as well as other elements. This was a major achievement."
Obviously, that's more of a backward glance since they're a list of accomplishments. What was Kudlow hoping to hear last night? Kudlow explained, saying "predicting a fabulously optimistic economic outlook. And leave just one quarter for the first year achievements. If people disagree with me on this, including major Trump supporters, I understand, presidential speeches always have some difficulties figuring out how to prioritize their key points."
As I listened to President Trump's fast-paced speech, I kept returning to this thought 'this is the type of speech Larry wanted. From President Trump's speech:
Under the Biden administration, car prices rose 22%, and in many states 30% or more. Gasoline rose 30 to 50%. Hotel rates rose 37%. Airfares rose 31%. Now under our leadership, they're all coming down and coming down fast. Democrat politicians also sent the cost of groceries soaring, but we are solving that too. The price of a Thanksgiving turkey was down 33% compared to the Biden last year. The price of eggs is down 82% since March and everything else is falling rapidly. And it's not done yet, but boy are we making progress. Nobody can believe what's going on. Here are just some of the efforts that we have underway. You will see in your wallets and bank accounts in the new year. After years of record setting falling incomes, our policies are boosting take-home pay at a historic pace.If that isn't optimistic, nothing is. That must've had Kudlow smiling ear-to-ear. This likely got Kudlow smiling more:
Under Biden, real wages plummeted by $3000. Under Trump, the factory worker is seeing a wage increase of $1300. For construction workers, it's $1800. For miners, we're bringing back clean, beautiful coal. It's $3300. And for the first time in years, wages are rising much faster than inflation. Remember that the wages, just look at it, wages are going up much faster than inflation. How big is that? Very importantly, there are more people working today than at any time in American history, and 100% of all jobs created since I took office have been in the private sector. Think of that. 100% of all jobs have been in the private sector rather than government, which is the only way to make a country powerful and great. That's incredible news in terms of wage growth. This morning, after Sen. Schumer shot his mouth off about Trump being out-of-touch, the CPI report came out with better-than-expected numbers. They were expecting year-over-year inflation to be 3.0%; instead, it was 2.7% YOY. Sen. Schumer should shut his mouth more often. I prefer listening to honest, smart people like this guy: Comparitively speaking, I'd rather listen to more Kudlow than more Schumer. It's that straightforward.
