Democrats stopped being the "loyal opposition"

Sophia Tesfaye's Salon article is difficult to take seriously, especially after reading "Conservative criticism of the president is becoming widespread following a Democratic sweep of off-year elections across the country. From Capitol Hill to MAGA media, the pushback signals a major rupture in the ideological pact between Trump and his base, suggesting he may finally be losing credibility where it counts." Apparently, Tesfaye hasn't noticed that President Trump is a controversial figure. If I got a dollar for each time President Trump has been written off, I'd be wealthy.

Tesfaye wrote "Tucker Carlson, for example, once a staunch Trump ally, released his latest video on Friday that challenged FBI Director Kash Patel over the Butler, Pennsylvania, assassination attempt. The former Fox News host alleged that Patel’s FBI is covering up critical details of the attempted assassination, a charge that immediately drew a direct response from the agency’s head." Carlson is a never was journalist. If he wants to conider himself a journalist, that's his right. I always thought he was more of a sensationalist than journalist. Further, it's worth noticing that Carlson didn't attack President Trump. He attacked Kash Patel.

Since President Trump took office, Democrats haven't worked with President Trump on a single thing. Democrats talk about President Trump being a threat to democracy but Democrats are the ones that voted once to shut government down, then voted 14 more times to keep government ahut down. Democrats were the party to cut off SNAP benefits to 42,000,000 Americans in the name of "leverage":

It's been apparent for quite some time that Democrats cared far more about gaining leverage than they care about doing what's right for the American people. That's sickening.

When Republicans opposed the American Rescue Plan or the Inflationn Reduction Act, it was because they were inflationary of filled with pork or both. When Democrats opposed the One Big Beautiful Bill, it was because Democrats hate (current tennnse) President Trump. The OBBB increased energy production, cut taxes for small businesses and blue collar workers and started cutting regulations. Democrats opposed those things. Why they'd oppose any of those things is anyone's guess.
