WHY this is Schumer's Shutdown

Foolish Democrats like Sen. Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries insist that this isn't Sen. Schumer's Shutdown. Democrats aren't doing themselves favors by fighting that lost fight. This CBS article is proof that this is Sen. Schumer's Shutdown. The article opens by saying "The Senate failed to advance a House-passed GOP bill to fund the government for the ninth time on Wednesday, the 15th day of the government shutdown. The vote attracted no additional support from Democrats, who are demanding an extension of health care tax credits in exchange for their votes. Republicans need to convince five more senators to cross the aisle, a number that has remained unchanged since the start of the funding lapse.

It's indisputable to say that the GOP shut down the government. The House GOP passed a clean CR (Continuing Resolution) on Sept. 30, 2025. Then they sent the CR to the Senate for their consideration, then hopefully onto the White House for President Trump's signature. Nine times, 52 Senate Republicans and 3 Democrats (Angus King, John Fetterman and Catherine Cortez-Masto) voted to approve the bill. Nine times, Rand Paul voted with 44 Democrats to defeat the cloture motion. Ergo, the bill failed. House Republicans did their job. Senate Democrats considered it more important to please their special interest allies to be their highest priority. Keeping the government open just wasn't that important. It's that simple.

The speculation is that the CR won't pass until next week at the earliest. That speculation is that the CR won't pass until a No Kings Rally is held in Washington, DC this Saturday. MSNBC threw this video together to highlight No Kings Protests:

Democrat senators aren't putting the American people first. They're putting their special interest allies first. What part of that sounds like Democrats are doing their utmost to open the government?
