Where were John Catsimatidis and Bill Ackman when New York City needed them?
Now that John Catsimatidis has called for Curtis Sliwa to drop out of the NYC mayoral race, the question now is simple. Where were they when this race was just getting started? Where was Catsimatidis when candidates were getting recruited? Where was Ackman when top-tier candidates were guests of honor at the biggest fundraisers?
You'd think that people with this much exposure to high-level politicking like Catsimatidis and Ackman have that they'd know that campaign machines are built a year before the election. Campaign machines can't be built a month before Election Day, mostly because that's when early voting starts. You can't even start a month before early voting starts. Starting a year before helps campaigns register new voters, fundraise, put key people in positions of importance and give them time to get polished.
Now Catsimatidis wants Sliwa to drop out after Sliwa handily won the first debate. It’s worth noting that Andrew Cuomo looked like ‘Low Energy Jeb’ risen from the dead at the first debate:
Mamdani didn't win that debate. He just wasn't the worst of the candidates, which was Cuomo. In 4 years, if NYC isn't utterly demolished by then, will Ackman and Catsimatidis have learned enough to put together a world-class campaign? Better yet, will they team up to defeat Mamdani?Inquiring minds want to know.
