When will Chuck Schumer cave to reasonability?
At some point, Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats will be forced to admit that they've been keeping government shut just to please their hard-left base. House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, my congressman, is fighting the good fight. According to this article, "We have roughly 400,000 SNAP [Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program] recipients in Minnesota. These are people that are most in need. What happens when they don’t have benefits? We can’t have this tragic result happen. First 26, 27 days [of the shutdown], Democrats have been able to get away with this nonsense, because most people in this country haven’t noticed, because they haven’t been impacted. That’s changing this week."
This morning, DFL politicians and operatives have essentially carpet-bombed Minnesotans with shut down misinformation. Richard Carlbom, the chairman of the DFL posted this on Twitter:
Rep. Stauber voted yes for a clean continuing resolution, just like Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith did 13 times during the Biden administration. This time, though, Sen. Klobuchar and Sen. Smith have voted 14 times to keep government SHUT! The difference? Biden left. Trump is now president. Time-after-time, Mike Johnson corrected CNN's Dana Bash in this interview: It's time for Democrats to do what they did 13 times under Biden -- to vote yes on a clean CR. Democrats keep saying that Trump has cut lots of deals; why doesn't he cut another? A: because there isn't anything partisan left in the bill. That's why it's called a clean CR.Maybe get your ass back to work. Your month long taxpayer PAID vacation must end. You are forcing 62,000 Minnesotans off health insurance, then doubling down to make 440,000 Minnesotans go hungry. This is a choice, Peter. A bad one. https://t.co/I126clPpC4

During the Biden administration, Republicans voted for each non-partisan CR. During the Trump administration, Democrats voted 14 times against a non-partisan CR.
