BREAKING NEWS: Jimmy Kimmel suspended indefinitely

ABC just announced that "Jimmy Kimmel is taking an involuntary hiatus." According to the article, "ABC has announced that it is pulling the comedian’s late-night talk show off the air 'indefinitely' following the host’s controversial comments about the killing of Charlie Kirk. Jimmy Kimmel Live will be pre-empted indefinitely,' an ABC spokesperson confirmed to The Post on Wednesday, Sept. 17."

The article continues, saying "Kimmel, 57, faced backlash Monday night after he said that the 'MAGA gang' was trying to score political points off Kirk’s murder after the conservative activist was shot dead on the campus of Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on Sept. 10. 'We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them,' Kimmel said during his monologue."

That's disgusting. The thing I won't do is make that type of incendiary statement without first getting confirmation that the information is true. Kimmel isn't a news reporter but it doesn't require one to get that type of information verified. That's either sloppy journalism or it's a disgusting display of partisanship. In the immediate aftermath of a horrific thing like an assassination, it's best to be gracious in your speech if you choose to go there but to exercise disretion to the greatest extent possible. This was actually a decent discussion for CNN:

Please show me a little mercy on that last statement. I did qualify it by saying "for CNN." I didn't say it was a great discussion.
