Behind the DFL's cruel assault weapons ban hoax

The DFL's strategy is apparent in the aftermath of the Aug. 27 church shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church. It's painfully obvious that part of the DFL's strategy is something I call the DFL's Assault Weapons Ban Hoax. It's a hoax because it's illegal. It's illegal because of the 2008 DC v. Heller ruling that said that guns purchased for the lawful protection of families is protected by the Second Amendment. I wrote this article so I could quote from Justice Scalia's majority opinion.

Justice Scalia wrote "Under any of the standards of scrutiny the Court has applied to enumerated constitutional rights, this prohibition—in the place where the importance of the lawful defense of self, family, and property is most acute—would fail constitutional muster." In short, assault weapons bans are illegal because, whether the DFL likes it or not, AR-15s are used to protect families. The DFL knows this but they're relying on the DC v. Heller ruling on stir up their base. Further, the DFL knows that any ban that passes would be struck down in a New York split-second in the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.

It's difficult to not say that this isn't an election hoax intent on driving turnout. With Walz potentially at the top of the ticket, it's difficult seeing the DFL getting fired up.

The other thing that the GOP is doing well at is hitting their messaging. In this interview, Esme Murphy asked GOP Leader Niska why it's fair to demand funding for non-public schools to make them safer. Leader Niska replied by asking what's fair about we aren't protecting all students:

That's the argument I've been making on this blog for the past week. Here's Leader Niska's interview with Fox9:

Demanding a total ban on all semi-automatic weapons isn't realistic. If that passed, the Gun Owners Caucus would sue in federal court, which means the Eighth Circuit. That'd mean the ban would get struck down in a New York split-second. This brings me to this article's title. The DFL hierarchy knows these things will happen.

This isn't a mystery. Despite that, the DFL is still willing to lie to their constituents to win an election. Instead, the DFL should come up with better policy ideas that would improve Minnesotans' lives. The DFL won't do that because their bosses, aka EdMinn, won't let them do what's right. That's disgusting.
