Tina Smith is latest DFL bloviator

The first rule of holes doesn't apply to DFL politicians. To average people, the First Rule of Holes is "If you're in one, stop digging." When you're a DFL politician, though, that saying gets slightly modified to say "If you're in one, find me a bgger shovel." Today's DFL 'winner' is Sen. Tina Smith. This is what Tina said. Specifically, she said "Do not offer thoughts and prayers as you systematically enable such tragedies. Do not claim prayers are sufficient when children die as they pray. Do not pretend you do not understand." — Lydia, 16, Minneapolis"

Apparently, Sen. Smith, (DFL-MN), doesn't understand the role that prayer plays in a Christian's life. Prayer is frequently used to get people through the difficult times in their lives. It's used to thank God for helping us through difficult times. Prayer is used to call the Holy Spirit into action to help loved ones or themselves make the right decisions.

Though I don't know with total certainty, I'd guess that the children at Annunciation Catholic Church were likely not into deep prayers but praying before the Gospel reading. This is Sen. Smith's tweet:

First, is Sen. Smith a regular attender of church? That's her decision but it's also the people's business when she comments on religious matters. It's the people's business from the standpoint of knowing whether she's a know-nothing or whether she's an expert. At a time when people are hurting, it's better to just be there for people rather than playing the role of know-it-all. And by all means, let the victims and their families get things off their chests. This is how the 2 sides talk past each other:

The Art of Simply Being There

The wisest, Godliest man I ever knew once said "2 eyes, 2 ears, 1 mouth. Use proportionately." From that wise advice comes my saying about the importance of simply being there. While you're 'simply being there', you're also gathering information. From there, you can ask the right questions that pull the hurting person to the right reaction. Most difficult situations can be improved by listening and/or praying.

What frequently makes difficult situations worse is not listening, then being inflexible. When Democrats immediately play their 'gun control' card, they miss the opportunity to actually solve the problem. Gun control isn't the problem or solution. Guns are inanimate objects. By themselves, they can't load themselves or fire themselves. By theselves, they'e just a lump of metal.

Put that lump of metal into the hands of Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold and that lump of metal can "murder 13 students and one teacher." Solving mental health issues is trickier, therefore more difficult. Hence, the DFL's preference for simple, one-size-fits-all 'solutions' that don't work.

The DFL needs to drop the gun control 'solution'. Instead, the DFL needs to wait long enough to find out what happened. Solving problems requires legitimate information. That takes time. It doesn't require one-size-fits-all 'solutions' that don't work. The next time a DFL politician offers one of these one-size-fits-all 'solutions' that don't work, tune them out.
