Tim Walz's Medicaid fraud prevention solution? Admitting failure

Tim Walz has a different definition for solving Minnesota's pervasive Medicaid fraud crisis. Gov. Walz's definition of solving Medicaid fraud apparently includes admitting failure. That's the signal he's sending by halting "payments to dozens of providers in a state program that is now at the center of another federal fraud investigation." This time, the taxpayers' money is getting stolen from "50 Housing Stabilization Services (HSS) providers flagged for suspicious billing activity."

I'd love to hear Gov. Walz's explanation for why this wasn't detected months ago. Further, I'd love to hear how much of the taxpayers' money has been ripped off this time. Remember that it's estimated that Feeding Our Futures fraud cost taxpayers $300,000,000. (That's what's been proven in federal prosecutions of Feeding Our Futures.)

The federal government has led this investigation. According to this report, "Alpha News was on scene earlier this month as federal agents executed a search warrant at the Griggs Midway Building in St. Paul — home to 22 HSS providers who collectively received more than $8 million in Medicaid payments."
Plenty of red flags should've been instantly raised when a single building housed "22 HSS providers" that "received more than $8 million in Medicaid payments." How wasn't this caught and stopped? The people monitoring this program either didn't want to spot this fraud or they're too stupid to be qualified for the job. Either way, they need to find a new line of work or start taking pride in their job. This isn't acceptable. Period.

In this video, Gov. Walz said that he aggressively used a new bill to stop fraud in the Housing Stabilization Services program:

That's hogwash. He's using that new bill to clean up the mess created under Gov. Walz's watch. Gov. Walz's statement is mostly a CYA operation.
The companies targeted by the warrant engaged in a "massive scheme" and "have received millions of dollars in Medicaid funds for housing stabilization services they did not actually provide," the warrant says.

"Fraud is a huge problem in Minnesota. Hopefully today will help put a stop to it," Acting U.S. Attorney Joe Thompson said during the raid.

In short, Medicaid fraud prevention during the Walz administration has been a total joke. The Minnesota Deprtment of Human Services hasn't even pretended to be interested in preventing fraud. What's obvious is that we need a GOP administration that gives a a damn about preventing fraud. It's apparent that the Walz administration has failed miserably.
