Introducing Minnesota's Odd Couple

Minnesota's Odd Couple isn't much like Tony Randall and Jack Klugman. Still, it's appropriate to call Tim 'Knucklehead' Walz and Omar Fateh, aka the Socialist, Minnesota's Odd Couple. It's appropriate because Gov. Walz is a socialist even though he won't admit it and because Sen. Fateh is a proud socialist who thinks that we should dramatically downsize the Minneapolis Police Department, aka the MPD.

First, the proof that Gov. Walz is a socialist is found in this article. In the article, Gov. Walz told former DNC Chairman Jaime Harrison that "We, as Democrats, we want people to pay their fair share, but why are we against people being successful like that? We can't be. Why are we against? We should talk about businesses. Not all businesses exploit their workers and we get ourselves stuck in that. And I think we lose them."

The reason why people think Democrats oppose businesses is because a) Democrats haven't defined what people's fair share is and b) Democrats start from a position of thinking that some "businesses exploit their workers." These are signals that Gov. Walz thinks that businesses aren't taxed enough and that a significant percentage of businesses exploit their workers. That isn't proof that he's pro-business. If you aren't pro-business, you're a socialist.

Omar Fateh Doesn't Trust the MPD

You can't be pro-business if you don't trust the police. On his campaign website, Fateh said this:

Vision for Minneapolis

Invest in a well-functioning Civil Rights Department and independent oversight of MPD. Our residents should trust that we are doing everything we can to build a lawful and trustworthy police force.

The implication from Fateh is that the current MPD isn't trustwqorthy. Here's another brainstorm from Fateh:
Invest in programs that ensure the appropriate responders come when we call 911. Over 47% of calls to MPD can be diverted to non-police responders.
Apparently, Sen. Fateh hasn't thought things through. How do you determine which calls don't require a police officer? It's easy to rattle off statistics without putting them into context. That's what Fateh did in this instance. It isn't that he isn't smart. It's that he's fighting for a foolish, anti-officer policy. If your police force is 47% smaller than it currently is, won't that translate into more crime and more dangerous crime? A Minneapolis that isn't safe won't have the traffic that it needs to thrive. High crime rates are like a major tax hike. Apparently, Fateh hasn't figured that out.

Mocking Tim Walz

No wonder we've slipped. With leaders like these, who needs enemies?
