Tim Walz's anti-violence speech fails badly
Last Friday, Gov. Walz questioned America's moral authority. Then he went further, asking "Who is the voice in the world now... who holds the moral authority?...It might be the CHINESE."
Back in Minnesota, Gov. Walz told reporters at the press availability "A moment in this country where we watch violence erupt, this cannot be the norm. It cannot be the way that we deal with our political differences. Now is the time for us to recommit to the core values of this country. And each and every one of us can do it. Talk to a neighbor rather than arguing. Debate an issue. Shake hands. Find common ground. This is who Melissa Hortman was. In the first negotiating session that I had a chance to work with her, she got all the partners in the room, and she provided each and every one of us a copy of a book called Getting to Yes. And the whole premise was debating with a sense of goodwill, a sense to come to compromises that serve everyone. And because of her, we did that. Because of her we did that year after year after year. That’s the embodiment of how things are supposed to work."
Gov. Walz, the problem isn't with talking with our neighbors. The problem is getting politicians to listen to their constituents. In 2023, the DFL repeatedly ignored the will of the people. Nobody seriously thinks that a majority of Minnesotans think that kids should have the right to a sex change operation, especially without getting their parents' consent. You signed that bill into law.
Only a handful of science deniers think that a northern state like Minnesota can eliminate gas-powered cars and switch to EVs by 2035. You signed that bill into law, Gov. Walz. Before you lecture Minnesotans about how they should act, perhaps you should examine, then fix, your flaws first.
Gov. Walz, it's past time that the DFL stopped listening to their metro activists and started listening to people in the outer ring suburbs, the exurbs and rural Minnesota. Just 20 years ago, the DFL owned the Iron Range. These days, they're lucky to win a handful of seats north of Brainerd. The reason for that switch? The DFL stopped caring about mining. This is Gov. Walz's post-arrest press availability:
Gov. Walz said these things after Antifa criminals broke up concrete blocks, then hurled those chunks at police officers and sheriff deputies in Los Angeles. This happened after California's Democrat Gov. Newsom and Los Angeles Democrat Mayor Karen Bass let rioters destroy major parts of L.A. Now I'm supposed to think of Wallz, Newsom and Bass as the personification of statesamanship? I don't think so. Then there's this from House Minority Leader Jeffries: Jeffries said this at a time when death threats on ICE agents have risen 413%. It's time for Democrats, from Gov. Walz to Rep. Jeffries, to stop the violent rhetoric before someone else gets killed.
