Kathy Hochul vs. Elise Stefanik, battle for the soul of NY edition

This morning, Kathy Hochul did her best to ssstick to her talking points during the House Oversight Comittee's hearing on sanctuary cities policies. In a fiery exchange with Gov. Hochul, Elise Stefanik didn't let her filibuster her way through Ms. Stefanik's cross-examination. AOL is reporting that "Stefanik invoked an executive order immigration signed by Hochul, along with a number of recent crimes committed by those who were in the country without authorization, including the burning of a woman on the New York City subway last year."

I watched that cross-examination live. Calling that cross-examination riveting is understatement. Rep. Stefanik is quoted as saying "This is Kathy Hochul’s New York. It’s one of the many reasons why you’re hemorrhaging support from hardworking New York families. They’re horrific crimes that are committed on your watch. You signed this executive order on your first day in office. You signed it again and again this January."

Situated in the center of Rep. Stefanik's crosshairs is the last place I'd want. If there's anything I'd want to avoid, getting cross-examined by Rep. Stefanik is at or near the top of the list. It's nowhere on my bucket list. This is the video of Rep. Stefanik's cross-examination:

Ouch. It was painful watching and I don't even like Hochul.
Stefanik several times spoke over Hochul during the heated back-and-forth as the New York governor struggled to recall specifics of the cases but repeatedly told Stefanik she condemns the "horrific" crimes Stefanik cited.
Gov. Hochul looked as uncomfortable as a long-tailed cat in a room filled with rocking chairs. Then again, Tim Walz looked uncomfortable getting crossa-examined by House Majority Whip Tom Emmer. (That's another article for later tonight.) Trust me when I say that this hearing didn't lack for fireworks, which I'll be writing about overnight.
