Democrats display constitutional illiteracy in NYC

Apparently, Democrats want to display that they don't have the first clue about our nation's Constitution. This article highlights the arrest of "New York City comptroller and mayoral candidate Brad Lander" as he atteempts top prevent ICE agents from arresting an illegal alien. Interfering with the arrest of an illegal alien is a federal crime. That's apparently lost on Jack Mirkinson, the article's author. He wrote "Here are federal agents—not local police officers—essentially kidnapping a high-profile elected official in the biggest city in the United States, on camera as he loudly points out that they have no jurisdiction or legal grounds to hold him."

Mirkinson omits the part about the illegal alien that ICE was in the process of arresting. Lander was repeatedly told to let go of the illegal alien that qas being taken into custody. Lander refused. That's his mistake. The truth is that Lander didn't hqve the right to interfere with the arrest.

ICE deportation arrests are a fedeal matter because immigration arresats are solely the responsibility of federal agents. Period. That's bad enough but it gets worse. Mirkinson wrote "The implication is that ICE has somehow slipped the bonds of respectability and is rampaging around with no supervision. Nobody’s minding the store! Everything’s chaos! Where are the rule followers!? But this isn’t what ICE looks like when it’s 'out of control.' It’s what ICE looks like when it’s in control—when it’s doing the job that it has been asked to do. That job, more or less, is to be the chief enforcement arm of US fascism."

Apparently, Mirkinson thinks that enforcing the law is modern-day fascism. That's a novel concept. For 240+ years, enforcing the law was considered the norm. It wasn't considered a form of fascism. Here's the predictable bpombshell:

And that’s why the agency should be torn down—and why abolishing ICE must be part of the platform of any politician who identifies as a progressive or leftist in this country. If you’re watching what’s happening right now and not demanding that this structure of repression be dismantled, you don’t deserve my vote.
If we want sanity, we must enforce our laws. Otherwise, we'll have anarchists in charge. It's interesting to hear the person repeatedly saying 'you don have the authority' to arrest a person interfering with a legitimate arrest:

Lander doesn't hwqve the authority to ask to see the arrest warrant. In all likelihood, this was just the latest PR stunt for a bottom-tier candidate to get free publicity.
